Amazing kart racer- they took the original I loved and made it even more amazing in that absurd Sega way that has kinda been missing in games- where someone could be all like "why is your F1 racecar jet shooting bees at a flying taxi?" and I can just say "because videogames". Got it for 360 last night, played a bunch- love all the new mechanics- also make the game more challenging; track design is amaaaaaazing.

It's a fantastic kart racer and the best arcade-style racing game released this year, easily. I need to get back to working on unlocking AGES, which is just too damn awesome:

The Vita version also just came out in Europe and looks to be an excellent port...supposed to be coming out here in a week or two.
-
I liked the original so I might as well get this.
Apparently the Wii U version is broken shit. So I'm hoping the Vita version will be pretty good.
-
The Wii U version got patched, apparently- but it's the Wii U so lolol whatever. Actually the game will be best on PC since it's gonna run at 60 FPS.
The Vita version looks like a good port:

Sumo was able to do a decent port of the original game to iOS so I'm not worried about how the Vita and 3DS versions are going to turn out.
-
Yeah WiiU version has some end-game bug? Most people in the WiiU community for the game sing its praises so they either haven't encountered it yet or are drunk. That said, 360 version had a patch already so I suspect there were some issues there at release too, but plays awesome and runs well- unlike the original on 360. I have the first game on PC though. I thought the Samba stage back then was WTF, but the stages in this game are just...jesus
-
I like how all the racers start out with different strengths n weaknesses, but as you play with the one you like mods open up allowing them to behave like other characters performance wise- which is nice. It allows late game folks to stick with their favorites and switch things up depending on the track/challenge.
-
The 360 version didn't have any major problems at release- I picked it up early since TRU broke the street date several weeks ago and had no trouble with it.
The Wii U version's extra modes were all completely fucked up and did not work, plus some of the boost challenges were broken as the boost arrows were actually MISSING from the track. You had to play the courses on easy and purposefully fail them three times so the game would ask you to skip over the stages to move on.
The original game ran fine on 360...I guess it's also better on PC due to the framerate?
-
iirc the framerate in the console versions was kinda crap? 360 version patch must have been something else then; I know there were some issues with the netcode (going by community discussions). I didn't get the game till just last night cause I asked someone to get it for me in honor of Christmas/December/whatever.
WiiU version sounded screwed, but it sounds like it was broken in ways the WiiU community might not have noticed cause LOL WiiU gamers (I am one wtf)
-
Haven't played it online...going through the world tour and grand prix modes still. And that Outrun bonus track is awesome!
-
The track quality blows me away- I know Mario Kart fans cherish their shit, but god damn
-
This game shits all over Mario Kart 7, then shits on it again, feeds it the shit that was shat, and makes it eat the shit it shits back out!
Not only is the track design way better, but the flight mode stuff is great and doesn't feel tacked on like those dumb glider wings do.
-
Yup!
-
I really want this game for my 360. I'll be looking out for deals and such.
Edit: Just saw in another thread that it's $40 new? I have a $25 code from Best Buy. Will buy before the year is over. :hyper
-
yeah its crazy affordable
-
Got Forza Horizon this week, NFS: Most Wanted should get to me by next week, and now this. Racer heaven.
-
loved the first one, will get this in Jan
-
The Vita version is out for $30 and is a great version of the game. Nothing's missing and while there can be some noticeable framerate stutter on certain tracks, it doesn't take away from how awesome the game is. A huge LOL at IGN UK for saying that Mario Kart on 3DS looks better than this does, too.
-
I have it, who else here plays on PS3? :hyper
-
god that ign review is obnoxious. The vita is not a console! Its not going to be 1:1 with consoles. FUUUU they suk

Is it the same as the IGN UK one? They said that Mario Kart on 3DS looked better. I stopped reading there.

So it is!
As for the Vita version, though, it's not what it could have been. Sega’s vibrant colours on that screen: it should be a match made in heaven. And yet we find ourselves a little disappointed with Transformed on Sony’s portable. Sure, those skies have rarely looked bluer, but otherwise Sumo’s racer has had quite the visual downgrade. Put it this way: we’d be surprised if the 3DS version looks much worse when that finally arrives, and running next to Mario Kart 7, it’s clearly the uglier game of the two. It’s not like something approaching console quality can’t be done – just look at Sega’s own Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition for proof of that – but the flat textures and rough edges make it clear this port was outsourced. Poor old Wreck-It Ralph looks like he’s had a close encounter with a blowfish even before a race begins.

Just play the Afterburner track- the intro that shows various parts of the stage alone blows away just about everything on the 3DS.
-
Someone tell me when this game is $20
-
Vita version shipped this morning. I picked free shipping so I should get it on Christmas Eve :pimp
Also wtf at that review. Dumbasses.
-
Someone tell me when this game is $20
Shouldn't be long- started @ 30
-
It'll be $20 or under by March.
-
You know what text I never expected to see pop up on my screen while playing a Sonic-themed Kart racer? "You hit Danica Patrick!"
-
Got this game in the mail yesterday (the Vita version). My initial impressions is that it is a nice step up from the original, which was pretty good and had a lot of potential. I hope to see that potential realized as I work my way through the game.
-
I forgot to boot this up yesterday- Alex Kidd should now be available! :)
-
Not that it's that big of a selling point, but I must say that I do enjoy the the GamePad in this game in that it allows my wife and I to both play on separate screens. The framerate could stand to be a little better, but I'm not really sure how the other versions are faring in that regard. Maybe they're all like that? Or maybe it's just that the Wii U blows.
-
The framerate is an unstable 30 FPS or so on all current versions. PC is supposed to be 60 FPS.
-

Wirld Tour bugs on Wii U were all fixed with the patch but online is still twitchy as fuck. :/

MK7's no looker, but it does maintain a locked 60fps in 3D. If EAD/Retro were targeting a fluctuating 20-30fps in 2D, I'm sure they could've bumped up the assets and effects quite a bit too.
-
I'm really digging this game. The courses are bright, colorful, imaginative, and above all, competent. There's a lot of variety and some shit that made me go :o Skies of Arcadia? Shinobi? I didn't care a lot for the original game. A lot of things were done nicely but it kind of felt like a very hollow Mario Kart clone with all kinds of weird and cheap frustrations. A lot of these are solved in this game. I guess the only flaw is that the water portions are a bitch to control sometimes. Picking a mod or a character with better handling doesn't seem to fix the issue either. Oh well.
And the visuals shit on Mario Kart 7 from 50,000 feet high. Whoever that clown was who said the opposite proves why games journalism is a fucking joke these days. Buy it now!

Online bugs are largely irrelevant on the WiiU anyway, as long as bugs affecting single player are buttoned up that's fine for that platform (APOLOGISM but true)
I like MK7 don't get me wrong- but a lot of people ignore Sonic All Star Racing simple because SONIC, and it'd be neat to see a few great games get their due

Well, if it's worth anything I like SASRT more than MK7 too. I also liked CTR more than MK64 back in the day too.
I'm a terrible Ninthing. :(

god DAMN I love some CTR- its one of the psone games I still have on disc

not on steam yet, or is it just the shitty J store?
-
Not out till Feb 1st.
-
cheers
Is this too hard for a kid? If it's like Mario Kart, my kid and i would likely get some fun out of it. If it is like Wipeout etc though, no sale....

It's more like Mario Kart. Some of the challenges can be difficult, but you can skip over them (on easy difficulty) after three attempts.
None of that matters if you're just doing grand prix and single race stuff anyway. The challenges are used for unlocking characters, different stat configurations, and tracks, although the latter can also be unlocked just from playing courses in online races.
-
can you do split screen local multi-player?
-
On the console versions? Yup!
4P local multiplayer splitscreen. Wii UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU lets you play 5P.
-
ok cool
i'll def pick it up then
