I don't know where it came from but I probably watched the tape from this series I had far too much. The only game I had from it was Mega Man 2. I don't think I learned much of anything. Well, other than about the existence of Bad Dudes and its level order forever being seared into my brain.

But I knew I didn't ever want Amagon. Imagine my surprise when decades later I found out that annoying fucking beeping (starts at 1:45) was because the expert game player was using slow mo to get through the level.

Looking at these inspired me to answer another burning and ever important question about Game Player's. I remembered it initially as a text heavy magazine that had PC and Amiga sections. Then a few years later a friend was getting it and it was this splashy magazine that was hyping up Rise of the Robots as the next-gen Street Fighter killer.

Publisher went bankrupt and the "main version" was never that popular anyway: http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2006/07/column_game_mag_weaseling_unra.php

Apparently when it was Ultra Game Players it had an eighteen category scoring system. Polygon should probably look into something like that.

I had the one with Strider, P.O.W., and Thundercade.

lol Thundercade had slow-mo on the whole game too.  I just thought it was a shitty game.  But I bought the tape for the other two.
