Only thing holding me off was the lack of quality games in my opinion. Sure I can get Black Ops and have fun with it, but where are the fun games on this system? The platformers, the RPGs.
Any games I'm unaware of that are already must-haves? And what about upcoming games?
-
take it back
-
Unfortunately there aren't very many games on the horizon. Next year I'm planning to get Soul Sacrifice and Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta.
Vita games I own and enjoy
Escape Plan
Everybody's Golf (Hot Shots Golf)
Frobisher Says!
Gravity Rush
Lumines: Electric Symphony
The Pinball Arcade
Pure Chess
Rayman Origins
Super Stardust Delta
Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack
The Treasures of Montezuma Blitz
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
WipEout 2048
Zen Pinball 2
What I would like to play
DJMAX Technika Tune
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F
Orgarhythm
Overall there are lots of good games for the system even though nothing stands out as a must-play. However, if you also play PS1 and PSP games on it then it's totally worth the asking price.
-
Join the club, I bought the Black Friday one then cancelled it an hour later. Spending my vacation drinkin Earl Grey and reading GI Joe comics by Larry Hama on my fuckin iPad instead. JEOH

Go back to being lame, Powerlame.
I find this very offensive.
...you're implying that Powerslave stopped being lame at some point.

I cut out all the games Im disinterested in from your list.
I'll definitely be playing PS1 games on this whenever I get it. How is it going so far with the availability of titles on PSN?
*snip
I just want to know if there are gonna be outstanding games released in the near future. I noticed at this point there are too much 'casual' games on the system. Wanted to know if it's a good investment. I don't read gaming news much these days so I'm not up to date with how things stand and what Sony is currently doing to rehabilitate the system.

there are a few games out and not many coming out soon. That's about it...

Vita: The Greatest that Never Was :'(
-
Why was this POS even made? I've been wanting to buy one but there are no good exclusives and the ports can't even run at native resolution.
-
i'll be there to the bitter end and i'll close the door on my way out :'(
Then I'll be like "Vita was the GREATEST"
And you guys will be like "that was 15 years ago and it died a quick death. stop posting this every day."
-
I never had a psp or a ps1. So when it dies I have those libraries to fall back on
-
Vita: The Greatest that Never Was :'(
Pretty much, its a decent system but its position and Sony not doing much just kills it.
I was prepared regardless but now actually using the thing for a bit i'm kinda bummed out about its current position and Sony basically doing fuck all

Vita: The Greatest that Never Was :'(
I'm trying to find something else to compare it to. Maybe the Lynx?
-

It's alright. Even though only a small fraction of all PS1 games are available on the PSN, there are still plenty good ones to play if you never owned the system before. The list of compatible PSP games is better.
-
dreamcast, maybe?
dreamcast had games
-

then owning a vita would be like looking into the face of god
-
dreamcast, maybe?
I think that's the best comparison. Especially when there's still Japanese developers making games for the system but it seems to have already been abandoned by western devs. Are there any non-Japanese-developed Vita games coming out in 2013?
-
dreamcast, maybe?
wii u, when they shift it to "ps3/ps4 accessory mode" :teehee

Several smaller studios have unreleased projects for it, but I haven't heard of any larger western studios making games for it.

as in, starting today:

No you don't. Majority of PSP and PS1 library still isn't up. Enjoy your digital wait.
-
and they seemed to have stopped releasing PSP and PS1 games altogether, aside from surprise japanese PS1 games a couple weeks back.
-
Digital future, having to recertify and pass licensing and all that bullshit.
I will be swimming naked in my pool of plastic and silicon. Or whatever discs are made out of.

I'm liking the Vita quite a bit. There's a pretty decent lineup of software (compared to 3DS, which has maybe a dozen games worth buying in two years; Vita is already past that point in less than a year) and I missed most of the PS1 and PSP so the games still available on the PS Store would be new to me. I guess if the lineup doesn't appeal to you, wait until there is some kind of price drop or fire sale. I still think Sony is going to start phasing this thing out starting in 2013 and putting all of their eggs in the PS4 basket.
I had a lot of fun with the Dreamcast so if the Vita turns out to be a repeat of the Dreamcast, so be it. I have a 3DS and an iPhone so I'm not going to be missing out on much portable gaming content.
-
Meh, there are no decent rpgs on it atm so thas why i dont have one.
-
I watched some vids of some PS1 games being played on this. Eh who am I kidding, that alone gives me plenty of reasons to get this thing.
-
I've been playing a lot of them on there. The 2D games look especially nice...if you're gonna get SOTN, get the PS1 version. The one on DXChronicles is all blurry.

You're in luck. Just buy a PSP, and you'll have a bigger and better library than Vita.

Ok guys I'm officially in the club! Bought the PSVita from someone for 200 euros.
It's the 3G version and included with the package were 3 games
- Fifa Football
- Asphalt Injection
- Lego Batman 2
There's also a protector thing that covers the top of the device and that famous controller grip accessoire.
Also a 8GB memory card.
What do you guys think about this deal?
-
The games are pretty crappy, but the price seems fair. Do you have PS+ yet? Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Chronovolt, and Big Sky: Infinite are currently free.
-
Oh yeah, a PS+ subscription should temporarily solve your software problem right away.

Yes the games were not the deciding factor for me to purchase this deal. I liked the fact that it was 3G (not that I plan on using it) had a 8 GB card and 2 useful accessoires. Besides, Lego Batman is a cool game. I think I'll sell or trade the other 2.
-
A few questions I got..
1. How do I get the stench and dirt off this device?
2. Ok so this person already had a few things set up like an account or whatever and I'm thinking about resetting the Vita to the factory settings, formatted and all like it was new. Are there any things I can lose or should look out for?
3. How does PS+ work? How do I get it? SOLVED
-
for PS+ you buy it on the PSN store. Not sure about stench or dirt or deleting account, although I would delete it because if you buy anything he'll have acess to it too. unless he already has like a nice game collection already on there

200 Euros is like $260, right? Seems pretty high for a used system with three crappy games. I would have bought a new wi-fi (3g is lol) model and a larger memory card instead.
Resetting the system to factory systems will not lose anything important.
-
Yeah I'm already thinking of giving it back (the guy said it would be no problem) and look for a better deal. This thing is working fine and everything but it doesn't have that new feeling to it and it smells haha. I was wondering if I needed 3G anyway, Im not the kind who goes around paying per minute (or however the rate is) to play online somewhere.
-
3g is worthless gibe it bak

If it could actually do this i don't think some owners would mind :lol
Not digging the stench thing, is it that bad :-X
-
I'd take it back if it smells. Fuck that. People who can't take care of their electronics to where it has creepy looking crusty shit on it and smells like dirtiness and dank bother me :maf
-
to be fair, it apparently belonged to his kid. And it smells like..... shit I don't know... like a shitload of drinks and food combined with sweat and dirty hands? fuck
-
if you return it, look into Amazon Warehouse deals-- you can get a used one for a decent price and they're usually just returns that are perfectly fine.
-
There's no reason to buy a crusty, nasty Vita. It's main selling point is just to admire how nice it looks!
-

yea dude return that shit i say since you have no idea where that thing has been.
-
btw... is this guy's PSN account still attached to the Vita if I restore it to factory settings?
-

I don't think so. I think that clears off everything.
-
no, he needs to remove his account first. there's a machine id for it he needs to deregister with psn, and the easiest way is to use the vita itself.
-
are you talking about activation? pretty sure you can have more than one account activated on a system at a time.
all PSN info on the system is wiped with a factory reset, but it will be activated under the previous owner's account until the previous owner deactivates it.
-
So what should I do? Factory reset (the power button, PS Button and R right?) or first log out and do the things from the Settings menu?
I wish gaming wasn't so difficult :/
-
I thought you were getting rid of it, are you keeping it now?
-
Yeah seems like it. The guy apparently only wanted to have it back if the thing wasn't working or something. Oh well, it's not too bad. And I guess the smell comes from the screen protector. It needs to be replaced and I think it'll be good then.
-
I don't think it's unreasonable to give it back if it stinks. That's disgusting.
I'd shut it off, remove the screen protector, and clean the shit out of it. Reset it to its factory settings- this is not difficult. Follow the on-screen instructions and get rid of the old account that's on there.
I never buy used portable gaming systems unless there's no choice- years ago I needed a PSP on the right firmware to use CFW, so I went for a used system only because I had to...and that's it. With a console you can give it a good cleaning and replace the controllers with new ones, but with a portable you're stuck with whatever kind of abuse might have been done to the buttons/controls.

log out, initialize the system from the system menu.
-
alright, it took a while but I resetted the thing.
lol w/e
-
Yes, some banks require that your street address matches the one on your debit/credit card for purchases. I suppose it might also make it easier to reclaim your account if you ever lost it. What are you afraid of?
-
Man, I hope Borys was right. :lol
-
lol ok nvm
