Title: lactose intolerance
Post by: Eschaton on January 02, 2013, 12:26:19 AM
so, ive finally come to terms with it. I've been getting infrequent bouts of gas once in a while over the past year and a half. It seems my south asian DNA has sprung up in defiance as my mother suggested. I'm lactose intolerant. Today I ate some pizza and the resultant fumes are ff7 Meteor casting status. Changing the way furniture smells breh.

What are my options? Do any of you suffer from this sad sad life? I guess I have to take Lactaid tablets and shit  :santocry

I carry a lot of Lactaid tablets with me - I refuse to give up cows milk.  I seem to be fine with cheese, yogurt, ...etc.  And for some reason when I mix milk with ice cream for milkshakes I don't need to take the tablets.  ???

I love soy milk, though I try to drink more almond milk. I'm not letting any legumes mess with pickle's hormones. Nuh uh.

Same thing happened to me this year.

Basically I have to take those things in moderation now otherwise I pay for it the next couple of days. Also in general I can't eat stuff late at night anymore without suffering the consequences.

You should switch to a diet appropriate for your genetic origin.

Rice porridge for breakie.

Rice and veggies for luncheon.

Noodle soup for dinner.

See a doctor. My dad for the longest time thought he was lactose intolerant, but he actually had something very similar that could be treated my medicine. Now he can eat dairy.

I just avoid dairy as much as possible.  I avoid soy or almond milk because they're fucking terrible and are very poor substitutes for the real thing.

I think I may have responded to another post of yours complaining about these symptoms, and I responded that it sounded like it could be gluten. It can be hard to tell the difference, since so many standard American diet-type foods mix bread and cheese, say. There really is no way to be sure other than taking them out of your diet for several weeks, one at a time. Something like 50% of the population have some kind of gluten sensitivity/intolerance deal, on top of those with celiac conditions. So it's not an unusual thing at all. That said, if you are lactose-intolerant, I think you are better off learning to live without the stuff that messes you up rather than jumping through hoops so you won't mess yourself up quite so much when you eat it.

doesn't lactaid taste good?  I tried some of my friend's once...it was like sweet honey milk.
