Yep,March 2006.
It was supposed to be a launch title but it got delayed,I was there.I had Oblivion in my hands one month before I bought 360.Fallout 4 would be a perfect 720 launch window title-long,addicting,tons of stuff to do.Post launch drought = oh well, back to Fallout 4.
Maybe MS finally allows mod tools on a console.Durango=lots of memory, hdd in every box--perfect for mods.

They could do it like indie games.

Fallout 3-2

hope it's just the character in a different setting, i loved FO3 but would prefer the next game to take place somewhere entirely new to the series
-
Best news ever. Bring on the Fallout!

Next fallout should be set in europe or something.
That 50's us setting has been done to death now I cant take it no more.
-
More New Vegas, less 3 please.

Fallout 3-2
you call it New Vegas
you could also call it better than Fallout 3

I haven't played New Vegas yet, is that the general consensus? Fallout 3 quite possibly was my GOTG, so hearing there's a better one makes me shit rainbows.
Also I'd love this to be set in some big romantic city in europe. Paris or Venice or something.

Fallout 3 Vegas would have been the better game MAYBE if they both came out on the same day.
To me F3 felt more tight, a better experience.

F3:NV feels more like F1 and F2
crazier, better characters, better writing, better setting
F3 is just Bethesda Boring. It's the post-apoc equivalent of a Forgotten Realms novel. zzz

Yup. Fallout New Vegas had an old school vibe, less constraints right from the get go. More fun to be had and it didn't really matter if you followed the plot much.
Edited, I meant Fallout NV
-
Fallout 3 was anything but boring :maf
-
it was also poorly written and acted and paced
-
I liked FO3 better, haven't ever finished NV, keep trying and keep losing interest
-
I know it won't happen, but less bugs please. Made FONV unplayable for me.

"fewer" bugs, as you can count th--
(notices Obsidian logo on box)
carry on

Watch it this being Fallout: The Motion Picture announcement.
I wouldn't mind that, actually. We all know there's going to be a new Fallout sometime soon anyway.
-
Ugh am i really the only one sick of the us setting?
-
Why would using a European setting make such a big difference for you? Outside of maybe having some different kinds of factions and a few destroyed landmarks, it would be the same wasteland post-apocalyptic setting with mutants and mutant animals.
-
There is some rumor about Boston,I think.
-
Music, cultural background of factions, whole graphic design and mentality and humour could be changed up.
Instead of the factions being modeled around european stuff like the roman legion and inquisition we could have europeans try to mimick the us. Could be funny and interesting. Fresh. Something different.
Doing it in Europe would open up a lot of new possibilities. Maybe different languages you need to learn.
Housing too. Accents.
-
You could have soviet invaders that are still on a mission to subjegate the enemy a hundred years on etc.
-
i think we can all agree that europe sucks balls
-
That's actually kind of offensive.
-
Europe wouldn't be so bad if not for all those filthy Europeans. :smug
-
I want a Fallout that takes place in a slightly different era, like instead of 50's americana it can have 70's or 80's americana in it.
-
Thats not bad either.
-
Europe wouldn't be so bad if not for all those filthy Europeans. :smug
nothing a few nukes couldnt fix

Only if you're a ball sucking European. :smug

Did you ever read Garth Ennis' Hitman, when they did a 'crossover' with No Man's Land? Basically Tommy and the boys stayed holed up in their dive bar etc for the whole time and didn't even notice the fact that the whole city had been quaked, plagued and crimed half to death, then walled off by the govt and left to die.
That's how I imagine the apocalypse in Baltimore.
-
that was a great issue
-
Probably the best issue of hitman for sure
-
Baltimore, eh?

But how would you tell the difference?
edit: aaaand I see I've been beaten to that joke.
-
Also, I am currently replaying Fallout 3, and I replayed New Vegas last summer.
New Vegas >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fallout 3. No question.
-
well now now. how far are you and what quests are you doing at the moment?
-
what the fuck do you mean, "well now now"? You haven't even played New Vegas yet for the comparison! :P
I'm at the endgame of the main quest, just blew up President Eden, and all that is left to rally at the Citadel and march on the Jefferson Memorial.
But I don't want to do that yet, so I'm just wandering/exploring the Capital Wasteland, and there's just fuckall interesting to do compared with the Mojave.
In addition to what Treesong said about NV having "crazier, better characters, better writing, better setting", I would add more variety of more interesting weapons, more interesting factions and sidequests and random exploring. And better enemies! After the variety of New Vegas, I got tired of the endless Super Mutants and Raiders of 3.
-
opinions, man

my advanced version of the joke is "good idea, but I don't really think a modern-day Fallout would work."

-First and foremost, the game will take place in Boston, and be kind of a direct sequel to Fallout 3 with a few groups returning.
-From what it sounds like, "The Institute" is pretty much the downtown DC or New Vegas of this game. Boston is going to be unlike anything we've seen in a Fallout game before, with buildings more on par with cyberpunk and retro-futurism.
-Androids play a big part in this game. The railroad from Fallout 3 is a faction. The enemies of the railroad is "the Plantation" -- a group who force Androids to farm so that Humans can get food. The Institute is highly advanced and probably obtained or built their own GECK to start a farm.
-Due to complaints about using Super Mutants and the Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout 3 excessively and going against the lore too much, Bethesda has decided to avoid using these groups. Bethesda wants to make a new "race" (think Ghoul, Super Mutant) which will be central to Boston. Bethesda is currently looking at Lovecraftian fiction since Boston is around "Lovecraft Country".
-Bethesda has no plans to reinvent the leveling up system to make it more like Skyrim and want to make Fallout 4 more distinct from Skyrim since of the complaints that Oblivion and Fallout 3 were too similar. Bethesda is thinking about introducing a system, similar to Skyrim, where your skills can level up if you perform certain tasks.
-
If you can't wait for Fallout 4, try this instead:

EG
Fallout publisher Bethesda Softworks has registered a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for "an on-going television program set in a post-nuclear apocalyptic world."
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to deduce that it's more than likely referring to its critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic RPG series Fallout.

Yessssssss
-
it'll be on amc, so the first season will be about a small group of people leaving a vault for the first time, then the budget will be cut and half of them will be killed during the season finale, then the show runner will be fired over budget disputes and the second season will be whoever's left sitting around in another vault bickering about whether or not they should leave, then the third season will be action-packed with a cool villainous vault overseer who kills off other annoying characters, then the show runner will be fired over budget disputes and the fourth season will be whoever's left sitting around in the cool villain's former vault headquarters bickering about whether or not they should leave
-
Holy fuck. Fuck The Walking Dead give me this. It'll probably deal with mutants and super mutants but I want to see the Enclave too. Would be almost Jericho like in that regard but so much more awesome.
-
What's great about Fallout is the retro-scifi technology, which no TV show has really tried to do before. Most are just real-world post-apocalypse events that deal with modern tech and real-world history. A post-apocalyptic show with its own alternate history and crazy robots and super mutants and energy weapons and ZOOOOOOOMG I WANT TO SEE THIS RIGHT NOW!!
-
lol you know it won't be like that.
-
lol you know it won't be like that.
So instead, they're going to make a generic post-apocalyptic show that has nothing in common with Fallout?
