I was thinking about parenthood lately because someone I know has a kid and they try to dominate the child's life. It reminds me of my own childhood when my dad beat the fuck out of me because I didn't understand how to do something on my math homework when I was 7 or how my mom would try to monitor everything I did.
It seems a lot of American parents tend to be extremes, either too controlling (ie "I am always right" mindset) or too lax.
Parents of the bore, what do you think?

That sounds rough, Himu.
Though to be fair, how hard are fucking fractions? Jesus.

One problem I have with controlling parents is that they tell you to do a thing without explanation. They're just like, "do it, because I'm always right, because I said so" if you ask why they want you to do something.
How do you balance nurturing with the idea that you may be right without coming off controlling?

Is your biological clock ticking? :-*

No, I don't want to be a parent.

Youll change your mind
-
in my experience it is about total inability to control

I thought it was like Oregon Trail: you just have to make sure everyone doesn't die
