Hey, is anyone else excited for this game? It came from Epic Games' "Make Something Unreal" jam. It looks like a total mindbender, and since my wang doesn't get any action, might as well fuck my brain. It comes out tomorrow and the price is still TBA, so keep an eye on this page. This is the first game trailer to make me go "what in the fuck is this?" the entire trailer. As in, I have no clue what it's about and I desperately want to find out what it is.

the game doesnt really mess with my head or anything. once you see how it handles changing the map up on you, it actually becomes fairly predictable.

the puzzles haven't been that challenging either however i'm only less than an hour in.

it's interesting. i've enjoyed how it's managed to teach me it's mechanics without blatant tutorials.

Yeah, I think what hurts me more is the visuals, my eyes get really sore after playing the game for a while.

I'm not sure what "progress" is in this game, or if it even has any. Is it just finding those screens? I haven't gotten the "gun" yet, just kinda roaming around, but I really like the structure of the game. The ability to warp to a home base and jump around in the map makes getting stuck feel like a non-issue.

well that one is basically you got two paths. red takes you up, blue takes you down. regardless of the option you will end up back in front of the two paths. the solution is:

I think I just need to re-think what 'solving' a puzzle is. I mean, I did as you describe fairly spontaneously before I posted but it didn't occur to me that I had progressed or solved anything so just didn't realize that I was done with it :lol

 a lot of the times you will get a dead end because you don't have/know what you need to proceed.

I can't seem to access any more rooms than I've got. I don't want to know the solution, but has anyone got past the Skinning A Cat room with more than two cubes? Do you need the green gun for that?

I needed 3 to get past it but had to leave one behind. After that, I got to a place where I got many cubes so I don't think you need to bring 3 with you there? You could be way ahead of me, of course...have you got past Don't Look Down yet?

I did the part where you *don't* look down and just leave the room, the exit turns blue and takes you somewhere else, but the map says there's another fork there that I can't seem to find.

And what I meant is that after that three-door hallway in Skinning A Cat, there's a door that needs three cubes to open and an area that you'll get stuck in without at least one extra cube. I haven't been able to do any of that.

EDIT: Just saw your pic, HOW did you get that many cubes there!? Nvm don't tell me, I'll look around.

.if you get past where you are now to a bit that says 'Some hurdles are too high to jump' you will find a bunch of cubes. You can then double around and get through to the 3 cube doors with at least 3

i am still trying to get the yellow one - can see it from various angles but am still going 'round in circles. I'm finding new areas but getting stymied at each, it feels like. I guess eventually the penny will drop and i'll rampage through a ton of it.

So glad I gave this a shot...most fun I've had with a game in forever

updating the PhysX driver seems to fix the initial crash bug for a lot of people (yes, even with AMD cards)

i need a new gun but can't find it. i have a few puzzles in front of me that i can solve without a new gun i believe. some doors that need the yellow one and a few puzzles that require the red one. i found a really long shaft and i tried to jump my way to the bottom but was not able to.

I don't think there's anything in it that people can propagate like "The cake is a lie" or whatever. It's just that people are inadvertently going to start talking about the logic of the game and solutions to its puzzles, and part of what makes Antichamber so good is the way it allows the player to discover things for themselves.

The dude is very up-front about wanting to work for Valve, but frankly I think that would be an awesome situation for him. With the right setting and framework, this could be a hit like Portal. As it is, it's a fantastic, innovative, fun game, but not great ENTERTAINMENT in the way Valve's other games are. I understand why Portal got old fast to some people but I don't read GAF or whatever so it never bothered me....I loved it and #2.

It does suffer a tad from the gun thing though, as was said earlier. Once they give you a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail. To the designer's credit though, he does his damnedest to subvert those expectations as well...

i finally realized what the yellow gun was allowing me to do and managed to unlock like 7 or 8 extra rooms. also figured out how to deal with the room with 4 exits.

Yeah, it's poorly-implemented. The first real spot in the game where I thought the guy needed someone else looking over his shoulder, or more playtesters. That fucking lip on the ceiling creates all these logistical problems for no real gameplay benefit, and the yellow cubes just don't move the way you expect unless it's in a straight line. I got all the way to the top, hit the lip, and couldn't progress at all without removing my bridge, had to restart :gloomy  Still, it was tense for that reason. Sweaty palms for sure.

Since you already know what you have to do, I may as well give a few tips 'cause the actual implementation of the strategy is so tedious and it would be a pain to have to repeat it -
The way to do it is to get past the initial cube at the bottom by avoiding the sides, then hugging the sides all the way up. It takes like a solid 5 minutes but there is basically no way you can fuck it up if you just go in a straight line all around the sides of the cube. You do have watch out for the lip near the top though, and start making diagonals instead. 

And there is bad news waiting at the top. But good news soon after that :D

One of the clever aspects to the design is that it is modular and non-linear. So if you have learned the skills, you can do certain parts before the game has taught you the specific mechanic. I finished with a bunch of the map still unexplored, but when i went back, they were all easy 'cause I already had the techniques required.

yes, you can climb the tower with the yellow gun. But I wasted a ton of time here by not using the most efficient method of moving yellow cubes...

First time I did it, I created stairs all around the sides, going up about 5 cubes of height each time. It took forever and I was terrified of falling the whole time. Then I hit the lip at the top and couldn't move. Had to fall off and re-start. Got all the way back up to the top, and the controls froze. Had to restart. Finally did it on the 3rd try. Then had to do it all again on the next section :lol

Now, the EASY way - you send one of the snakes up to the top. Make a ladder out of the other one. Stand on it. Use middle button to connect the two snakes. You rise up as if by magic :lol
