Remember this stinky piece of shit? Remember the Nintards on GAF who would defend its godawful screen, godawful form factor -- and did I mention its godawful screen?
Get your hate on. Lovers are not welcome, because if you found this filthy piece of stank tolerable YOU are part and parcel of the problem. Nintendo: too cheap to add a decent backlight until two years later -- just like they're too cheap to add decent 3D support to the DS or a decent amount of RAM to the Wii. fegs!
(that said, I love my GBA SP and Micro.)

good thing i never bought that fat, stinky, no proper backlight piece of shit. boy, once the GBA SP came out i was all over it. i even bought a second one when i saw that they offered a black japanese verison.

I saw this poor kid playing one at the airport, so I cut his throat and threw him down the escalator. It's good to help people. :)

I HATE THE PHAT GBA
-
Its just really impossible to play because its not backlit. What a terrible idea.
GBA SP is fucken awesome tho, although I just play all my GBA games on my DS PHAT these days anyway
-
I play all my GBA games on my DS lite - it's rad.
I got the original GBA at launch, but I had to, I was a freelance gaming dude at the time and was covering the US releases. I remember cowering underneath a desk lamp to play Circle of the Moon because the lighting was so bad :/
-
afterburner FTW.
otherwise yeah it sucked alot.
wormlight lolz.
-
Yeah this thing was a piece of shit. Nothing but love for the SP, though, now that was an ingenious handheld design, made better only when they added the backlit screen :drool
My DS lite is great and takes on most of my GBA-playing duties, nowadays, but boy do I love me some GBA SP. I've had my fair share in them, ranging from a blue one that got stolen, a Famicom one, a blue SP+, which is totally sexy. There are some games I still prefer to play on an SP, like Wario Ware Twisted.
-
I knew it was shit, but I just had to get one for Advance Wars. I remember I couldn't even play it in my room since there wasn't enough light.
-
I still use my GBA SP because its small and a little less obvious in public. FFTA has been my poison of choice this past week.
-
I dig my Micro, too -- I have Super Ghouls and Ghosts R hidin' in my pocket, rubbin' up against the ol' purple papist :waggle
-
I had one, and a wormlight lolz. It was good at the time but I was jealous of the SP because I couldn't afford an upgrade.
-
At least it had a headphone jack unlike the SP. :-\ And I liked the Dpad better on the original too. That's about all the nice things I can say about it compared to the SP though.

Warioware Twisted is pretty difficult to play on DS PHAT as the damn things a bit too bulky. I really need to upgrade to DS lite. My DS is fucked, you gotta push the D-pad real hard and shit. Thats what 5 Metroidvanias and Advance Wars does to your handheld lol
-
Never got the GBA phat, but have a flame-red SP and a Famicom Micro.
-
I remember playing a lot of tony hawk 2 and a runthrough of golden sun on that piece of shit. :-X
