I got it, even though I only recently got the Sly Cooper collection and never played the games before.  I paid $44 total for four Sly games...not bad.

I remember Adam Sessler loved the original game, so he's definitely a fan.  Without having watched the video, I'm sure his complaints are legit.

Wow, Sessler really disliked it, although I think he placed too much on the storyline.  His game play related complaints seem pretty valid...basically more of the same and nothing stands out.

Sessler is like one of the biggest Sly Cooper fans. I remember watching old episodes of X-Play where he gushes over the series so if he doesn't like it, it must not be great.

The cross-buy feature isn't working right now.  It just says "coming soon" when you try to access the Vita version to transfer from the PS3.   :lol ::)

The game is $40 for the PS3 version and the Vita Version is $30.

If you get the PS3 version you get the vita version free.

Sounds about right.  Sessler is nostalgia'ing a bit since some of his complaints are present in Sly 2 and especially Sly 3.  But fool me twice, 8 years later, maybe don't work too good in Sly 4's favor.

This was no quick buck effort; Sanzaru was the developer on the collection, and spent 3 years working on this... not exactly a rushed job.

I could spend three years trying to compose a song and not have much of worth to show in the end, either.  Not for lack of effort but lack of something else.

So I rented this game. Pretty okay so far. Neat little game.

Interestingly enough, the game has the VITA version on it not as a download code but as a "disk benefit". So the disk ended up tying itself to my account and I effectively got the Vita version for free. Whoops!

I've only played a little bit of the game so far but it seems good to me, too.  I like that the hub worlds are nice and large and seem to have a lot to do.  Good draw distance, even on the Vita version.  But I might feel differently if I played Sly 2 and 3.  Have only played a bit of the original.

All of the cross-buy games are like this...so yeah, if you are the first one to rent this game or Playstation All-Stars, you can get the Vita versions for free.   :lol

cross play with the vita sounds like a really cool aspect and something that would get me to buy it. playing at home then continuing on the bus? thats mad cool

Although you'd have to make sure to download your save from the cloud before getting on the bus!

Cross-buy/play/save is awesome.  It takes like two seconds to upload and download saves from the cloud and it works perfectly for Sly, Sony Smash Bros, Retro City Rampage, and Street Fighter X Tekken.  The latter does not actually share the same save data, so you get two different profiles/rankings online, but you can share your customization options between both versions, and more importantly PS3 and Vita users can play each other online.  The DLC works on both versions too.  That keeps me glued to the Vita version and the same is gonna happen when Dead Or Alive 5+ comes out.

As a Vitard, I feel obligated to buy this.  Never played a Sly Cooper game before.

So it sounds like this game is pretty good.  Which is kind of surprising considering the developer (though they did a great job with the HD ports for 1-3), and kind of surprising because most modern entries in PS2 series do not turn out well (Twisted Metal :(  ).

If I wasn't trying to save up cash and the fact that this is going to be $20 in no time, I'd probably pick it up.  I still need to play Sly 1-3, but I'm hearing all I really need to do is play Sly 1 & 4 and skip 2/3.

Sly 2, 3, and 4 (going by impressions and demo) are all roughly the same thing.  The apathy towards Sly 4 is just that you're going through the same motions again; same highs and lows.  Looks like a well made game and worlds better than the non-ND/Insomniac Jak/Ratchet games, sans Daxter.  Depends on how much of the same game you're willing to play.  Some people hit a limit.  I hit my God of War limit with Castlevania LoS.  Doubt I'll ever play that second PSP game or judgement.

anyway, I'm currently going through Sly 1 again, HD version, and it's seriously great.  Went through Sly 2 HD last year and in some ways it betrayed my memories because you tend to block out the padding and annoyances (The Wind Waker Effect).  Sly 1, if anything, is better than I remembered it.  It's really good.

This game has actually been pretty great. Yes it's "more of the same" but that same was from 7-8 years ago and we really don't get this type of game anymore. Also its by far the best of the non-ND/Insomniac/SP games. I would like to see more Sly games from this team (even though its never going to happen)
