i'm in there.  glad these guys are still around...there's so much bullshit electronic music today.  It's all about the artists who were doing this stuff when people thought electronic music was just "techno."

I think those are good but nowhere close to GOAT. The tracks are extremely noisy and that's not my type of electronic. I'd even wager that the last song you posted outright sucks.

This is my speed.

Dubstep and bad trap aside there is tons of AAA+ electronic stuff today, really think you're off base there

I realize electronic music encompasses a wide range of qualities these days, but when somebody like Autechre puts out an album, it's like everyone else should shut up and listen to the wise, old electronic artists.  But just like back in the day, Autechre is a hard sell since they put in plenty of undanceable, noisy, abstract tracks and passages.  And because of that, it'll get the hipster label, because noise is "pretentious," i'm sure.

I have appreciation for unorthodox compositions, I just don't have appreciation for music that sounds like noise.

That one's on Chiastic Slide and is possibly their most melodic tune of all time.  I'm not sure how that's an example of difficult-to-appreciate noise music. :lol

but yeah, Amber, Chiastic Slide, and Oversteps.  That'll give a great overview of their music without getting too heavy into noisy, formless Autechre.

I'm more into the 'dance' types of electronic music (house, techno, d&b, trance, etc) but every now and then appreciate more of the abstract, IDM-esque flavors. Autechre is one group that I'm sad to say is a pretty big blind spot but I'll definitely be checking the videos linked while I'm at home.

they're not even trying to, man :lol

Autechre is more my thing, but Tiesto and Autechre have two different goals, so I wouldn't really compare them ever.

Klaus is good but you really have to pretty much sit down and listen to them through as albums/symphony type deals

:bow :bow2

This is fantastic work and further explains why I think electronic, when done right, shares so many similarities, in terms of song structure, to classical music. The other one I'd say does that the most is jazz.

This song just makes me want to lay in bed with my eyes closed and listen to the ENTIRE ALBUM. Grabbing when I get home.

Me too!   Got stoned with some friends, someone put on the Orb...a whole room of us had our minds blown that day.

I know this is like their hit song, but I couldn't get enough of this for a year or so (and not the album version, had to be this one.  Song starts around 2:40):

:dap AUTECHRE - fuckawesome - PURCHASED

Just FYI, the URL was malformed in your initial post; I've fixed it here, you may want to update.

Lastly, if ANYONE here is using an iTunes account which is not the same as their physical location, the AUTECHRE page link will offer to have you change your iTunes Music Store Region, and default to "OK" instead of "Cancel," which normally I appreciate, but not today. Fixing it is a piece of piss, but the button which is the means of restoring your original region for Japan just looks like a misplaced, red RECORDING button at the very bottom of the Store's front page. Good jon, Aple.

I saw 606 back in '03 and it was also a debacle for non-music reasons, lol. His set wasn't that exciting aside from him utilizing two laptops in tandem. DJ Rupture was also there (to this day whenever I see any news posting on him I'm kind of baffled as to why he gets any sort of attention/enthusiasm) along with Dwayne Sodahberk who wore a black t-shirt and since the venue just had a giant black wall/curtain for the stage rear wall he looked like a disembodied head and arms! Oh hey writing this I remember the 4th act was knifeedgechop, he just played back his stuff in cubase and smashed his brain to it. Impressive headbangery considering some of his beats. Liked Dwayne's set enough to go find something of his after. Aw, Rippin and i_skatr aren't on youtube. Ah well, those two tracks from the EP I have of his are both really cool, he opened his set with the former...

this might be the best track of anything ever...for the minute.  Takes a minute or 2 to build up, then 6 minutes of awesome. The rest of the album, Tri-Repetae, is another classic.   Came out in 1995.  Listen to that track!!!!^^^^  Pretty dang forward for 1995.

Who are you going to see at Tomorrowworld? Looks like some great talent, that Kitsune tent in particular looks hot. I'd definitely aim to see Soul Clap, Jacques Renault (he's a local DJ and plays lots of great nu-disco and funky house... though his mixing leaves a bit to be desired), and Mord Fustang...

Tomorrowworld was so fucking awesome...coming back to reality sucks. fantastic vibe all fest, almost everyone we ran into was great. Will prob go next year with an expanded group at this point. Camping added a really weird and fun dynamic to the whole thing. Aside from them not having ice for the first 24 hours. There were a few things that need to get better for next year, but it was a really admirable first effort.

Best set I saw was Seven Lions. absolutely destroyed. the headliners (Hardwell, Porter, Armin, Ingrosso...) all delivered, also loved Gunz for hire (Qdance killed all weekend), Gareth, Koan...list goes on. Kitsune stage was great during day, but got kinda sketchy at points.

Had to miss Axwell, Diplo, Atrak, and KTN...schedule really back loaded every day. The only real down point was being outvoted and dragged to Guetta. That and there was a TON of trap shit, but there were enough other stages where it was a big issue.

Fun times!
