I haven't been paying attention to this, but you know what? I really enjoyed Crysis 2. But I really hate fighting the lame aliens, pretty much like every game Crytek makes. But yeah I want to get this, it still looks pretty solid.
-
crysis 2 was fucking garbage for the most part so i really have no faith in this being a good shooter. may download for the grafix

All that just before PS4 reveal
Crytek going back to its roots :bow2
EG interview
"I made a joke at one point saying, 'we're going to melt PCs,' and I think we are going to melt PCs again. People want that, and we'll deliver that.
"With Crysis 2 we tried to make the spec available to as many PC gamers as possible. Then we heard back from the loudest group, which was enthusiast PC gamers, 'our PCs are running this game at 200 frames. What the hell? We should be running at 30 frames.'
"Crytek is probably the only company where you read forums and YouTube, people are excited if they can't run the game. I don't think it's like that at any other game company.
"Our graphics programmers said, 'we're going to give them a game they can't run any more."

I think it's weird that they just gloss over the fact Prophet totally stole a dudes body in a really fucked up way. Like, I know most people don't care but I feel like it's a missed opportunity to explore those two personalities fighting over control of this body.
I respect good art and story in games but not in my dudebro grafx whore shooters.

Is this actually any good or just nice to look at?

Its short for what it is. I personally loved the second game and this just feels like a step in the wrong direction. More focus on MP than the SP content, and it show's by the length and the story. Took me just over 4 hours to finish the game which I did in one sitting. Last time I did something like that was with MoH's sequel, both EA games.
In short wait for a pricedrop or gamefly it.
-
In terms of visuals, it blows away the Killzone 4 preview
The screenshots above don't really give C3 graphics its due
-
Game seems to be a lot better on xbox then 2 was. Which I guess makes sense. Either way, man it sucks that it's short. In like 2 hours I'm already half way.
Either way, this just seems like a rushed sequel. I'm not seeing whats really new beyond the Bow, which is cool, but somewhat overpowered. Thanks to it, stealth is even better now. I do like how running dosent drain the suit's power now though.
-
Isn't the bow positioning sort of distinguished mentally-challenged?
-
Well I finished it. It was an ok game, but seemed rushed. Either way, there was no need for this game. it's just more Crysis 2. I guess there are are a few changes, but you know nothing game changing. Sure you have the bow and I guess that make's stealth more viable, but that's kind of it. The levels got kind of boring half way and just uninteresting looking. They also stopped really trying to make sense in how you got from one place to the other, which you know makes it seem like they just didn't care. Game looked great though and ran pretty well on xbox. I don't know really what to say, if you liked Crysis 2 you'll probably like this game.

Kind of setting the bar low. One day Crytek will really make a good game. After they stop throwing shitty aliens in them.
-
Haven't played the game yet but it seems like their is a bit of franchise fatigue going on here same as with a lot of franchises.

Well I mean Crysis has never been some great series. Yeah it's got good gameplay, but I don't know something keeps it from reaching the Halo's of the world. I hate to say story and character, but hey people have really latched unto that in Halo. The Crysis series' plots have been pretty poorly told and whats there is yawn inducing. They still try though.
But with Crysis 3 it just kind of seems like they made a game because they had assets lying around. There's dosen't really feel like there was a drive here. Like I said, it's just more Crysis 2. At first when they were like "it's back in New York" it received a lot of groans, in all honesty that didn't turn out to be a problem, since it doesn't feel like a retread. But, you know the game just dosen't do enough with it's "jungle city" sitting. There's no atmosphere and really not enough "holy shit this a city yet a jungle" levels. What I'm saying is in the 1st one, you felt the enviorment and you got everything that came from being in a tropical island. You were jumping into pools of water, shooting at tress. It was great. And in two I'm jumping from metro tracks, fighting in a parking lot, defending in random resturants or train stations, and running from cover between cars on the highway. The environments felt cool and true to what they were about. Outside of the beginning of Crysis 3, I can't say they explore enough of the "jungle city'. It kind of just devolves into environments that could be in any FPS.
And I guess in the end, maybe Crysis just didn't need more then two installments. The universe certainly doesn't deserve more then 2 and well we got most of this gameplay in 2.
As for franchisee fatigue. Yeah, I guess it's because developers refine for the sequel and then think they can drop a pretty similar one for the third.

360 wins console contest
but PC PC PC
one interesting thing
Our Core i5 and Radeon 7870 combo barely managed a sustained 20FPS when running in 1080p with maximum settings enabled - and 720p fared little better. Instead, lowering various elements - such as shadows and object quality - along with downgrading from 4x SMAA to SMAA TX2, allowed us to reach 30-50FPS on average in 1080p, while using the low preset for everything bar texture quality and anisotropic filtering (very high and 16x) put us right in the ballpark for some reasonably consistent 60FPS action. We were still left with judder caused by uneven frame latency, so switched to 720 in order to eliminate these issues. Perhaps our ageing i5 CPU is what is holding us back here: various tests have demonstrated that Crytek's engine requires a quad-core CPU at the minimum, with AMD's octo-core processors inching ahead in terms of performance on Intel's price-comparable quad-core chips.
From some other interview
GamesBeat: Is the Wii U from Nintendo even on your radar as far as making games?
Yerli: We did have Crysis 3 running on the Wii U. We were very close to launching it. But there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA on that. Since we as a company couldn’t launch on the Wii U ourselves — we don’t have a publishing license — Crysis 3 on Wii U had to die.
lol Nintendo

Nobody would buy the Wii U version anyway.
