In many cases, I was just guessing, and in many more, I was distracted by the derivative nature of the games, thinking they were something similar. So many similar games.

Exactly what happened to me.. I got 36/50. There were some I knew instantly (especially anything mid 90's shareware), others I guessed and got lucky, and others I just used process-of-elimination (i.e. no way that kart racer was "Mario Kart" :P )

Not bad, a few process of elimination guesses and all the ones I missed were obscure as fuck titles no one played. I was a moderately mainstream gamer back in the 80s. I knew the main titles, but stuff definitely flew under my radar.
