Played the demo. First time playing EO since the first one. I really want it but don't want to tire myself out on first person dungeon crawling when Soul Hackers is out in two months and Soul Hackers has priority.

(http://www.thebore.com/forum/Themes/default/images/post/thumbdown.gif) This dude gonna jerk it to the demo then be like "eh, it's not a priority"
Shaka was right
-
Reserved it at Gamestop this past Saturday... looking forward to some uguu~ dungeon crawling :uguu
-
Theey reprinted those not too long ago. Like twice now, lol.
-
Didn't say it wasn't a priority :lol But this season is hella busy with 3ds between Soul Hackers, EO, and Monster Hunter. If you know anyone who has a full time job, and the kind of time beat all of those games so close to each other I'd like to meet them.
But it comes down to two first person rpgs released in the span of two months and an SMT will always be preferred. 8) Especially if I've been waiting over a decade to play it.

-
Himu, in my professional opinion, you should get it anway. If history has shown, these games command a pretty decent demand, needing to be reprinted twice, and the value will inflate online. And there hasnt been an instance of reprinting 3DS games that I know of, it may not be as simple thsi time around.
Just look at the whole Fire Emblem debacle. Shit was jacked up to $60+ alone the week of.
-
Where did I say I wasn't getting it? 8)
My main issue is time. :( I wish I were a college student again. :(
-
Yes pre order all of your games for 3ds.
-
Yeah, I have to wait for a reprint on Fire Emblem. I got my 3DSXL like a week too late, waltzed into gamestop, figured I could just pick up a copy there. NOPE.
Have you checked other stores? I found mine at Target.
-
I'll buy this game, god knows when I'll get around to playing it, though. Dungeon crawlers are so time consuming.
-
I dont see this one as too time consuming, I think they streamlined a lot of stuff, especially with the addition of Casual (you dont get a game over when dead, just sent back to town)
-
My game shipped :uguu
Used free shipping, wont get it until at least next week :fbm
-
Please realize that there is more to a loli that just being a loli, like with any other character archtype out there it all comes down to good writing and story.
-
This game has neither, but it has lots of numbers!

gaf quote'd
(i promise to never say gaf quote'd again)

You should have tried to swindle a free Prime membership out of Tony before he found out this place was a den of filthy poor cocklords.
-
Yeah, what happened to our Tony anyway?

Holy shit @ the little girl in the bikini. Normally I'm not phased by loli anything, it's whatever, but come on. What the fuck is that.
-
Yeah I said wtf to that too.
-
That's an unpleasant surprise. Do they have to add pedophile shit to every Japanese game now? Is it a new law in Japan or something?

i was being ironic geez,i play gust games for chist sake!
magus is mad he wont be able to play it :uguu
i have a pretty bad history with EO games so actualy i think the release of this game makes not owning a 3DS a good thing
the 3DS is such a weird thing,i want one because i have so many happy memories with the DS and it's pretty clear i won't get my weeaboo fix anywhere else yet all the games released for it are all the sort of games that are like "oh cool! XXXX but..." like "oh cool! kingdom hearts! but it's an half assed spinoff..." "oh cool! dragon quest! but it's a port up of a game i already played" "oh cool! SMT! but they are still reusing art assets..." at 150 quids though i would totaly buy one if i could pirate everything
good thing there's rune factory 4

I played the first one and I don't recall anything that bad. Just to confirm I'm not insane, here's the dancers from the first EO.

How are bandage lolis better than bikini lolis?
-
How are bandage lolis better than bikini lolis?
You can see her thighs in the new one. Slippery slope, Bebpo. Better just stick to Fight and Heal and leave Dance back at the Guild HQ.
-
How are bandage lolis better than bikini lolis?
um that dancer is practically naked in eo4
-
Well it sucks but it's just a portrait. Not even comparable to FE: Awakening's pedo fanservice eugenics.
Going to give it a try because one of my friends loves EO and wants to trade characters and stuff using those QR codes.
-
You can only trade characters that are equal level or below as you. And you can't level them up or change equipment. They're just, there.
The item thing might be something you can take off them.
-
everytime i see an argument about them loli's

I preordered this weeks ago and Amazon has yet to ship my copy. Might just stop off at a Pawnstop and go pick it up there.
-
Here's a new QR code from Atlus but it cannot be redeemed in the demo - retail only

-
I dont know if you played the demo, but they included weapons and armor that come with a skill, for example I gave my Runemaster a Healing Wand and now he has a healing spell as well. Of course it's not as good as a buffed heal.
My demo party:
Land / Fortress / Nightstalker
Medic / Rune
The nightstalker gets bonuses in damage for enemies hit by status, which can be pretty huge in boss fights or FOE fights, etc. Plus he gets double attack, as well as Shadow Cloak, which can nullify one hit (which can make or break a fight). I gave him a helmet that gives him Taunt, so he can direct those attacks to him.
-
Go get all the QR codes released so far, they put out some decent stuff.

Theres more in the thread beyond the OP

In game, when you eventually unlock the airship, go to the Wharf in town. There is a QR Code option.

Yay, I beat the first area and it only took....*checks*...11 hours! I'm playing very cautiously.
I'm wondering if I need to start training up a Fortress. I've been getting by okay so far without one, but THE INTERNET says it super-important to have one. I dunno. I'll probably just keep going with what I've got until I hit a wall. I'm rolling with a Land/Night/Dancer, Rune/Medic setup. My front line does seem a little mushy, but Dancer's guard buff helps out a lot.
-
There are items later on that can increase a character by 20 levels or so, saving you the grind of new characters.
-
The very last thing I'd see is an Atlus game without a manual. End of an era. RIP :fbm
-
Lack of manuals notwithstanding, this game is awesome. Can you wait to shove it in your 3DS's slit, demi?
-
It's a tight fit for such a little package
-
Exploring the 3rd stratum now, lv 29-30 party. Where are the hazard tiles, puzzles, traps, enemies that spam status effects, etc.? FOEs dropping left and right. Feels pretty easy for a supposed "hardcore" dungeon crawler. My party is a simple Lands, Night, Fort, Rune, Medic.
-
I completed the first EO and I remember it being more difficult. Skipped 2 and 3 because eh dungeon crawlers.
I've finished Wizardry 1-3 and 5-8 and played a lot of classic PC roguelikes years ago. So I suppose I miss the neat puzzles you find in the old Wizardry games. And just about any encounter in those games could be deadly.
I read The Dark Spire was tough although I never got around to it.
-
Yeah, EO kind of ditched any real semblance of difficulty in the main game after the first one, and even that was broken with a Paladin/Medic in the party.
If you want something more like those old games, dig up a DS game called The Dark Spire. It's a lot closer to those older games. EO's too big to hurt people too much nowadays.
When he said "dig up," he means prepare to dig in your wallet and pay next-gen collector's edition prices for it.
-
Which is funny, since retailers (re: GameStop) were giving it away for $10
You snooze, you lose ;)
-
I've had The Dark Spire since it was released, just never got around to playing it. Just checked on ebay and you can get cart only for $30. Brand new sealed is $110+
Anyway, getting pretty bored with EO4. Anyone here still playing it?
-
Nope!

That's typical with EO, having played the first two. You get all excited at these hardcore gems seeking to validate yourself as some reincarnated gamer from the old school era of dungeon crawlers only to realize after many, wasted hours that you've been playing a tedious, bone-dry title whose minimalist presentation has no legitimate place in today's content-rich gaming world.
-
mjermizan - try elminage? it's even easier than EO but it has more loot you can even desire,a lot of really pretty hand-drawn art and you get to fight a floating magic bunny

-
They certainly do have a place. Are you done yelling at the clouds, yet?
MJ fiends on these types of games, even.
-
I haven't been big on dungeon crawlers in a long time. I'm playing EO4 because one of my friends really likes it and wants to play alongside.
It's not a bad game, I'm just pretty impatient these days.
-
Maybe not these types, but the strategy games in general. It's really no different.
-

What place do they have, exactly?
You can make an argument for old school tactical/strategy games because the mathematical or logisitical underpinnings on which they're based haven't degraded due to time and technological advancement in the industry. Like chess, they never get old. These old school dungeon crawlers fall in line with outdated first-person shooters and racers, genres that have evolved in every single way from their humble beginnings.
-
The place that I want to play them in.

Lady boners; Nintendo has them.

Your best bet for detailed info is find some Japanese wikis. That will prove you are hardcore or something.
I'm back to playing MGR.
