So we're not getting Metroidvania nor the classic style. Just some shitty 3D game that some nerds salivate over cause they're stupid and this newfound crap.

Welcome to nextgen baby :smug

Anyways, this isn't surprising to anyone with a modicum of 1. taste and 2. the ability to discern quality from videos.

seems like another love it or hate it game from mercurysteam, and once again, seems to not have an ounce of castlevania's essence.  how many more til they're off the series?  one more?  fuck, i'll even take ninja theory over these clowns.
Mercurystream pls go.

The demo was pretty bad.  Just seems like a 2D version of the console game with almost all the problems while lacking the impressive presentation.  This is the first Castlevania game in close to two decades I won't buy.

I dunno; I hated the Castlevania LoS 360 demo, but liked the 3DS demo enough to purchase the game.  But it doesn't feel like a Castlevania title to me at all.  At least get Ayami Kojima to do the soundtrack, damn.

To be fair, it's more Lords of Shadow's fault than this 3DS game.  I didn't like the Lords of Shadow demo either, but still picked it up hoping it'd get better (it didn't).  The whole fool me once... thing.

And I don't care that it's not "Castlevania" or w/e.  Slap Castlevania's name onto Vanquish and I'd call it the best Castlevania game in years.  Problem is that this new Castlevania developer doesn't make good games full stop.

The dude behind the counter at Play N Trade yesterday was trying to tell me this game was gonna be awesome and that he would wait for Tomb Raider to be $10.

The retail version has a much more stable framerate.  The game plays a lot more smoothly.  Still low though and seems to be around 25 FPS.  Maybe 30 FPS max but I doubt it.

The cut scenes are done in a cel-shaded style that looks a lot more appealing than the in-game models.  Wish they used this style for the entire game, but the player characters do look better than the guy in the demo.  The game also has more platforming and traps than the demo- they really picked a poor level to represent what the final game is like.

I still would have liked another Igavania over this.

I'd have rather had an Igavania over this, but I enjoyed the demo and know how far its come having played an earlier build. I have no doubt its probably better than IGN's score there. The others sound right.
