Post by: bork on March 05, 2013, 03:12:29 PM: I dunno; I hated the Castlevania LoS 360 demo, but liked the 3DS demo enough to purchase the game. But it doesn't feel like a Castlevania title to me at all. At least get Ayami Kojima to do the soundtrack, damn.

And I don't care that it's not "Castlevania" or w/e. Slap Castlevania's name onto Vanquish and I'd call it the best Castlevania game in years. Problem is that this new Castlevania developer doesn't make good games full stop.

Post by: bork on March 05, 2013, 11:52:51 PM: The retail version has a much more stable framerate. The game plays a lot more smoothly. Still low though and seems to be around 25 FPS. Maybe 30 FPS max but I doubt it.

The cut scenes are done in a cel-shaded style that looks a lot more appealing than the in-game models. Wish they used this style for the entire game, but the player characters do look better than the guy in the demo. The game also has more platforming and traps than the demo- they really picked a poor level to represent what the final game is like.

I still would have liked another Igavania over this.
