Eh, those are $5 bottles of wine with a very dodgy history vintage wise. Their 2008, 2009 vintage were considered to be shit poured in a glass (i dunno never tasted it) but their 2011 vintage was apparently good (dunno havent tasted it). The fact that they sell it for $5 though makes me suspicious of the quality involved.

Thats cause Jack is a Tennessee whisky(its been charcoal filtered) and in my opinion overpriced, syrupy sweet trash.

Good entry points into bourbon:
Buffalo Trace
Wild Turkey
Evan Williams 1783
Bulleit
Eagle Rare (sometimes on sale for amazing prices, also tastes amazing)
Makers Mark (also watch for a sale, is under retardedly high supply constraints nowadays)

Trying to get shitty 4 cheep:
Benchmark
Evan Williams green
Jim Beam

in that order

Most of your top list I've tried and liked. Evan Williams is my default cheap stuff.

As for Rum, I am a fan of Sailor Jerry's. For Vodka, I like Tito's and Russian Standard. Russian Standard is very smooth and drinkable.

I get Georgian white wine when I can. A lot of the Slavic and Russian stuff borders on the dessert wine side of things, but there's some stuff that is not too sweet and syrupy. I prefer reds otherwise, namely chianti or merlot.

One time a friend couldn't decide between what rum to buy and was taking forever. So I suggested that Admiral Nelson's was clearly the best because he was an Admiral while Morgan was a Captain and Jerry was just a mere Sailor. And the price differences were an inverse factor of their ranks and access to "off book" money within the Navy.

I had to buy him a bottle of Jerry's to make up for it.

I don't really like drinking but 2 or 3 times a year. Late last year I tasted Johnnie Walker Black and it was pretty goddamn good. And I love me some Single Barrel Jack Daniel's.

But I do want a liquor collection for random drinks to relax and for when guests come over. I'm just pretty ignorant about what's good :( I grew up on McCormick's and Popov :(

red was pretty foul as well...tasted a bit like tussin.
blue actually came out decent. would probably be aces with some blueberry vodka.

don't live in lexington anymore. My dad recently owned a liquor store in Corbin, which is where i work so I get first dibs on most of what we get if i want it. There is a 15 year in there somewhere, but there's also a 20 year pappy van winkle to the far right that you may have missed. :lol or that might be the one you said was the 12. I also have the 12 tucked back there somewhere. It's a good life.
