Title: So who's going to E3?

yeah, if ever there was a time I'd want to go in my adult life, it'd be this year. Just, I don't want to travel cross country for it, or put in any effort.

Going to E3 sounded so cool when I was a kid. Even in the early 2000s the coverage was restricted to EGM, some 320x240 quicktime videos on IGN, and techtv or w/e. Nowadays everything's online, cept the greezy wii u tablet you waited 2 hours to hold and play wind waker on.

It's only worth going to pick up any useless trinkets. And since none of you are cool, you wont be going to any after parties.

I went when the PS3 was announced / showcased (2006), so I got to play amazing titles like... Motorstorm, and.. uh, Gundam

The thing with E3 is that the excitement wears off after about a day. The convention center's huge, but you could pretty much check out everything there in a few hours. I've went several times and I've felt pretty much the same way each time, with the possible exception of 2006, that was pretty rad.

Having said that, if you're able to go, I say you should go for it. It's a pretty cool experience, and lots of networking opportunities (if you're into that sort of stuff). Of course, don't actually pay for a badge. Fuck those prices. :maf

No networking for me, basically just a free trip to the US. Only spending as little time in LA as I need to.

Went four years in a row. The first two years I went were great- that was when the show was here in Atlanta, so it was a quick car ride, look at shit for a few hours, and go home. Hated it when it moved back to L.A. Quit going after the 2000 show.

I went when I was underage and had no trouble getting passes for free. Just had to know the right people. Has it gotten that much harder to get in?

It's much harder to get in now. I've been trying for five years. I thought I was going to be going this year, but my contact exited the business and made his own company that has nothing to do with video games. I've got another contact that just started his own gaming related company and he already had passes from my understanding, but he can't go. That might be my only chance of being able to go this year. Basically taking over for someone who can't go.

I doubt it will work out though... nothing ever does.
