Title: Reasons to unfriend people on facebook
Post by: Cerveza mas fina on March 26, 2013, 08:42:05 AM
For me a stupid austrian posted this and had to go, was already tired of her vegetarian bullshit but this is the straw.

Comparing the victims of the holocaust and world war to beef burger, I hope this cigarillo gets the crabs.

I just unfriend people who I realize I never associate with on any level or ones that I find annoying.  I've been added by plenty of "friends" and family that I just ended up removing because they were annoying or just padding my friends list.  That's including a few cousins and one of my best friend's longtime girlfriend (she's annoying AND I don't really associate with her).  No one has ever said anything to me about it so they either don't care, don't notice or just think "that guy's an asshole" *shrug*

Yeah, that's basically what I do as well. If I see the person with any sort of regularity, I'll just hide their updates. But if I continuously see obnoxious update while realizing that I haven't seen them in years and probably won't outside of just running into them in public while doing something else, I'll just delete them.

heh, I had a girl on my list who was an ex of a good friend of mine. Didn't really think much of it, until she posting a picture meme-thing about obama being a kenyan socialist etc. Now, I have a lot of friends, especially now, who duke it out over guns etc and some/most I don't really agree with. but the birther shit is so fucking dumb I just binned her.

I do this if they're someone I actually like outside of some Facebook quirk... spamming teenage-ish meme pics, constant political posts or just someone that can't seem to get the fuck off Facebook.

I've removed alotta people from my feed over the years. Any political infographs get you removed from my facebook feed. Only time I ever defriended anybody was the time this guy said "Fuck all the stoners. Lock em all up.". He cussed me out and called me a taco and a white distinguished black fellow for defriending him. He also talked shit about my family. I took a level-ELEVEN shit in this dude's glovebox the night he cussed me. I think he got the message.

Did you notice there's not an option for "complain about them elsewhere on the Internet"?

Actually, there's a button for just that.  It looks like this:

I get that. It's just like whats the point? Changing a facebook profile picture to something (rather non specific if you don't already know what it's for) seems almost worthless

Well, it's Facebook. It's the easiest way to show your solidarity (and a safe way to rub something in people's faces), I guess.

To be honest, I just glanced and assumed that post was from Malek, and probably wouldn't have responded that way if I realized my mistake.

...not sure what conclusions to draw.

Another thread complaining about Facebook. No one cares what you think about the people you chose to friend. If you don't like reading their updates you have three choices:

1. Don't read them
2. Hide their updates
3. Unfriend them

Did you notice there's not an option for "complain about them elsewhere on the Internet"? If you dummies can't figure out how to use social media then don't use it. You're terrible.

Look at you, responding to people who complain about facebook on the internet :violin

Even better- just don't use Facebook!

What sucks about Facebook is that I can't troll the people I find annoying -they're real life friends/acquaintances and I don't want to piss them off- so I just ignore everything or disable their feeds.  I feel bad removing people.  I know I feel bad when I send a friend request and it doesn't get accepted.    :'(

I usually unfriend people during my annual FB spring cleaning only. The people who go are the ones who go are the ones I don't care much for, have abandoned FB, annoying kids, or people I don't recognize/don't remember adding (legit reason, no?).

If they're people I know and want to keep but they're being annoying:
- Hide their updates from my feed if they're posting annoying crap.
- Add them to the "restricted list" if they're being too stalkerish, with their likes and prying comments (i.e. lots of family members). The nice thing about this list is that it restricts them your "public" updates/photos only. Blocking them from only your basic posts/photo updates, but your likes and events' activity from showing up on their feed.

Something else I legitimately dislike are the people who send you invitations to events/parties...and only do this on FB.  Don't get upset at me because I didn't log on for a few weeks and missed your little house party.  Send me a fuckin' Email or text next time.   ::)

I'm always surprised how many people seem to talk about politics on fb in america. No one in my feed ever talks about politics, unless some hipster spot is endangered by muncipial government and everyone wants you to sign some worthless online petition.

I thought it was stupid and decided to satire it by telling people to change their profile picture to mine. A few people got it and changed their picture, but one girl (one of my best friend's girlfriend) didn't get my satire and thought I was mad or upset.

You know you can just unsubscribe from people? That's what I do because I don't have the heart to actually unfriend them.

I do the unsubscribe and block them from seeing your posts combo. It's almost like they're on your friendslist in name only.

Either way, I'm criticizing you, not complaining about you to other people who have no idea who you are nor give a shit.
Italics are easier to internet with. It'd actually be a huge annoyance to use italics on a proper written letter, and I'd know, as I invented them.

Guys. Don't think I can keep this up.

Yes. And I end up using it on my relatives more than people I've friended.

If there's someone whose Facebook entries I dislike, I just unfriend them.  Some people have such fragile egos that unfriending them is murdering them in the digital realm.

Unless you're a hot chick who likes to post revealing pictures.  Then I just :snoop at the posts and :phil at the pictures.  There is a girl on my list who is a hardcore Republican and Christian but also works as a part time model for car shows.  She must have got implants or had a growth spurt in her late 20s but either way :mouf

You can choose to see only pictures from a person.
