I haven't had Popeye's for at least 5 years but I used to be fond of their spicy flavored chicken.  They had some real pop.

Nowadays, I've gone high class and moved up to broasted chicken.   :smugbiden

The biggest beef I have with Popeye's is that they always fuck up my order, regardless of location.

Experiment: I'll just have a salad.
Popeye's: Chicken, it is.
Experiment: No, I said "salad".
Popeye's: "Chicken"?
Experiment:  sa-lad.
Popeye's: Chick-en?
Experiment: S, A. . . .
Popeye's: C, H. . . .

That's the truth. Really overpriced so I don't go there that often. But man was it good.

The first time I came home from school in WI, well Popeye's was the first place I went.

i'm pretty sure even my coke was loaded with salt and spices.

I got this (not my pic):

the Rip'N Chicken.  It's more skin than chicken.  :drool   also it looks like a fried sea creature

also, look how small that is.  I finished half of it...it's actually too rich to just scarf down.

They did fuck up my order, but it ended up being a good fuck up.  I would've gotten the buffalo sauce and this stuff doesn't need anymore spice or flavor.  They gave me ranch instead.   Still couldn't really dip because, while it tastes amazing, it's 10 miles beyond the "too rich" line.

Their spice usage is just inefficient; they use a ton of spices, but it ain't ever that hot.  Cheapens the taste.

There's probably about a dozen local places here that make better fried chicken than any chain, but my go-to fast food fried chicken used to be Hardee's (Carl's Jr. in other areas of the country). It wasn't spicy, but it had this super-thick crust that was awesome. Cheap, too, like $7.99 for an 8-piece with 4 biscuits. I could eat all weekend off that box. Now they only make chicken strips :(

That was Roy Rogers chicken, from when they bought the franchise in the early 90's.  Used to have a RR near my house as a kid, which became a Hardee's, and then back to "Roy Rogers featuring the Hardee's breakfast."  I basically lived on that chicken until I was 15 and it turned into a McDonald's.

do they think it is "cute"?

Oh, kara-age is pretty great, as is tebasaki, and just about all of yakitori. It's just not US-style fried chicken, which I can only get by making it myself.

We have KFC all over the place, but I don't really consider it edible.
