Title: Why do people always estimate total time to beat a game too low?
Post by: Powerslave on May 01, 2013, 05:08:03 PM
Guy on gaf says Tomba takes 10 hours to beat. No way you're gonna be playing Tomba for the first time and figure everything out and beat it in just 10 hours

Maybe you're just slow. There are seven people who have played it on HowLongToBeat (http://www.howlongtobeat.com/gamebreakdown.php?gameid=886) and the average is less than 10 hours.

I'm a pretty slow player so whenever somebody says something takes X amount of hours its always pretty easy for me to add at least 40 to 50% to that time.

Some people are that good where they blow through anything. It's also probably a form of humble brag for some people.

Yes same for me. Especially with RPG's where people usually throw the ever so classic '30 hours'. I never remember having a save file for a RPG where the timer was below 40 hours.

If the dev says "it's got over 100 hours of gameplay!" you know it's really like 7 hours though.
