I dunno, do you guys wanna get a thing going where we can watch each other play pc vidjya games? I've been messing around with Open Broadcaster and it's pretty OP. You can quickly and easily setup streaming to twitch.tv
here's my channel: http://www.twitch.tv/fistfulofmetal
i'm gonna start playing Dark Souls in a minute.
here's where you get the software: http://obsproject.com/

dunno why i was having such trouble.
then the fucking gaping dragon did an attack i've literally never seen it do. this is my "i dunno, all strength" build. though i hate axes.
-
I did a strength playthrough of Dark Souls last month. played with halberd. axe is for fourteen year olds.
-
That's how I played.
-
i did halberds last time i played. wanted something diff. the demon great axe is pretty good.
by all means bros, stream some games :)
-
It's not just PC games, you can also stream console games via emulators or if you have a capture card. Just that a lot of the competitive PC Games are the most viewed channels.
-
witcher 2? maybe
-
can we cuss at you while you play? cuz that would be a game changer
-
what do you use to stream whatever you're playing on PC?
I feel like just me playing games wouldn't be good enough, but if I talk or something, that might just be plain bad too. 'cause it would just be variations of "fuck" and "shit" being yelled
-
I have found I rather dislike streamers. Watching other people play video games is amusing for like 3 minutes if that. So most streamers cover it up with "personality". The problem is that 95% of them use the same personality. =|

OBS. i posted the software in the OP

bout to be bad at Fez
-
Is it possible to be bad at Fez? Is this a ploy to get me to watch?
-
I streamed some Don't Starve last night. I just run OBS in the background. If someone comes in and asks some stuff in the chat I mike turn my mic on.

you never posted your twitch account!

FTL?
-
FTL was the first game I was streaming, then Sword of the Stars: The Pit. Mainly the same style of games I like to watch streams of.

This is one of those things where I feel really out of touch. I don't get this, and all this twitch.tv type stuff. Even in every day real life, I hate watching other people play when I could be playing myself, why would I sit on a computer and watch other people have fun? I suppose I can imagine it being mildly entertaining if the person you watch is exceptionally good or shit
are the broadcasts spiced up by requests and such? Is there group chat or something? Being sincere here
-
I started watching when I was playing FTL and was curious about how other people were playing it. I ended up watching this one guy who had a few tricks I hadn't seen before (running crew back and forth through the medbay to keep them healed). The next night I checked again and he was playing Binding of Isaac which I was also struggling with. Turns out he was doing a 2 year challenge where he's streaming for at least a few hours every day for 2 years, trying to make it is full time job and not cutting his beard for the whole time. Channel is http://www.twitch.tv/lethalfrag if anyone is interested. There's a decent chat community there and he's really good at interacting with people and answering questions. Usually people are just asking how much he makes form his stream which of course he's never going to answer.
The other main one I watch is Tornis, because he's been playing a lot of roguelikes/strategy games and has a cool Russian accent.
I generally put it on my iPad and have it running to the side of my monitor when I'm playing/wasting time. I usually only watch people playing roguelikes/indie titles, have no interest in watchign LoL/Dota/SC2 etc... but they have the most viewers.

i was pretty into watching speed run stuff for a bit, but i was smoking lots of weed at the time. Got me back into retro stuff big time though, which has stuck with me. There are still a few good ones that I'll throw on every once in a while. Romscout is usually playing castlevania or some other good game, usually has good chat, and other guests in skype that seem like normal people who know a lot about games. AGDQ and other marathons are always fun to watch and leave on all day.
Not nearly as into fighting game weekly streams as I used to be, but that's partially because Marvel weeklies and anything but big majors are predictable and I just got sick of watching any other fighter, except AE when international players are here. I'll watch WakeUpSRK and UltraChen though, since the hosts are interesting and do good recaps and analysis.

There are people who are exceptionally good at games, tournies, marathons, and other guys who just play random games and are entertaining enough to listen to. there's chat which ranges from small and good to /b/-like mayhem. Speed run marathons usually have donation incentives to put a twist on a game or have someone play it an exceptionally hard way and lots of requests and such. When you have someone who is good and explains what they're doing the whole time, it's pretty interesting if you like nerding out on the technical aspects of games and how they can be messed with/exploited. One guy does a 20-something minute OOT run that is just completely non-sense and awesome.
-
I enjoy watching people play games in general. Speed runs are cool to see how people break games. I like watching people play Dark Souls because of the difficulty in figuring stuff out. I enjoy watching people go through that process. Seeing a person attempt to problem solve a situation and how they come to conclusions. It's an interesting process to me and I like seeing how different people do it.
In regard to my streams, I'm open to whatever. I have a ton of games and would be willing to take requests. Obvs right now watchers are light so there isnt anyone TO request.
Here's all my STEAM games for reference: http://wastedonsteam.com/usd/id/fistfulofmetal

twitch is good to have on in the background, but I don't often pay primary attention to what's going on.. it's more like TV background noise

I've been dabbling a bit in obs myself recently. It's actually really cool. (And 100% free) Even if you aren't into the streaming aspect of it, you can record your gameplay fairly easily without a terribly massive fps hit like with other programs like fraps. And most importantly you can get a reasonable file size out of it for somewhat decent quality.
I'll probably do it a bit more when BF 4 comes out.
