Title: Battlestations Midway
Post by: Eel O'Brian on January 11, 2007, 06:55:06 PM
Who's getting this?  The graphics don't look that great, that "Pin-up Girl" promotion is fucking annoying, and I suck at flying controls in games - but the thought of commanding fleets in real-time, jumping from plane to battleship to submarine and drowning hundreds of japs in retribution for the Bataan Death march makes me smile.  Plus, Live needs a good, lengthy strategy-action game.

Who's developing it?

Im making a pass, there were several games like this on PC. They always ended up far too complicated and high pressure to really enjoy beyond moments of frantic switching and gasping at dumb mistakes made in a pinch.

I mean if a PC and keyboard cant offer adequate levels of control I dont think a gamepad can either. I guess the latest Star Trek game for 360 suffered from too many control options to a person holding a controller with what, 10 buttons. That introduces bizzare button holds and presses n shit and memorization.

None of that ever really ends up that immersive.

Actually, you should check out the walk-throughs which show how the controls work.  Doesn't seem that complex, really.
