Title: Call your mom
Post by: Groogrux on May 12, 2013, 10:20:22 AM
Cause it's Mother's day.

Also, Happy Mother's Day to Len!  I think she's the only Bore-mom we have!  And we're all pretty begrudged that hers are not the breasts we suckled on as babes.

I'll be calling all of your mothers today  :patel

Got my mom a tablet.  I don't even own a tablet and rarely spring for such a high priced gift but I felt generous, considering how they stole money from me.

Sadly both my mom and grandmother have passed... But I'll be thinking about them today :'(

Don't just call your moms go give them a big hug and thank them for giving you your miserable lives /depression

Naw, it's her birthday in a couple of weeks anyway. I'm not calling twice in a month.

We went to Red Lobster on Friday. Great food and we avoided the holiday logjam that restaurants will be tonight.

sadly, that's how things are going with both my parents...well, sadly and not sadly.

but today's not the day for dealing with that though.  Thankfully the whole family is getting together, which helps filter everything.

I cooked her and my stepfather some high roast chicken and potatoes.  not my pic but from the same recipe:

the chicken grease falls on to the potatoes as they are roasting and it is soooo good.  The potatoes are the centerpiece of the dish.

If you really cared about her, you'd brave the crowds to take her out to Olive Garden tonight.

I see I've out-blacked PD yet again. He went to Red Lobster. We got a 12 piece bucket of Lee's famous recipe, sides and a gallon of sweet tea.  :jawalrus :mynicca

thanks Groo :) Happy "mother's" day to you too! You should get to celebrate both days. :)

I had a great weekend. Hubs made me breakfast Saturday morning and we took pics of the baby in the garden. Hung out with my mom in the afternoon, just her and me - ate lunch, got massages, and went to some "alternative" type store with psychic shit and crystals and books about chakras and "shapeshifting with your pet..." lol Only my family... Came home to a steak on the grill and booze smoothies.

Today I woke up to the baby in bed with my gift - unwrapped a pair of pretty vintage-inspired earrings. Went to breakfast at a cute coffee place down the street. Went to my grandma's house with my parents and sister, ate some Lee's, took more pics of the baby with the fam. Busy, yet relaxing weekend. :heart

when i first became friends with Polari in high school i was super shocked by how he treated his parents. i'm probably just used to it now.

My husband didn't call his mom. I'm sure we'll hear about it for the next 15 years.

my parents had it pretty well set up. i wouldn't have been scared of being beaten but i was terrified of disappointing them. not sure how they managed it.

My mom would literally kill me if I did something like that as a kid. She'd calmly walk into the kitchen, get a knife, and end me right there. And when my dad got home from work and learned what happened he'd probably be like "gotta do what you gotta do"
 :yeshrug

I was rarely allowed to go into my friends' houses, but whenever I did I heard some crazy shit. I didn't even know kids could talk back to their parents until I started hanging out with white people.

hanging around dysfunctional white trash families was always scary as fuck to me. why did the parents let the house get so dirty? why did they let dogs jump all over everything? why did they scream at each other for no reason? why did they all sit around and watch shit with brutal killing and sex scenes? the freedom you have wasnt even worth it because you felt so uncomfortable that everything was gonna blow up at any minute.

Didn't realise folks were talking about me in this thread, hahaha oh man. Still got my ass beat from time-to-time though, but only really because I pushed my mum to her breaking point and she lost it rather than any kind of controlled discipline.

Oh I wasn't bothered! I figured it was on some level of jest. It's just Heather LOVES talking to my friends and she's only ever had good things to say about you so I'm guessing she just didn't see you/recognise you.
