Has something for everyone, so long as everyone wants their action supercharged.

This new entry will only add mightily to the good fortunes of Universal's biggest franchise; no matter how silly and outlandish the action gets -- and it does become ridiculous -- it also delivers the goods its audience expects.

Once you're hooked to its towbar, it's hard to let go.

To date, I have seen The Fast and the Furious. Part 1. That ends now.

Starting today, I'm beginning a marathon viewing of The Bore's favorite testosterone drenched bromantic comedy. I'm going to watch the whole thing, every nos-soaked, engine-exploding, shirtless-Paul Walker quarter mile (including the special Extended Edition of Fast 5 where Vin Diesel and Paul Walker finally do it) culminating in the release of Fast & Furious 6 next week (for which I now have 5 Fandango movie passes for).

And yes, I will come at you, bro.  :hump

Fast 5 was amazing, enough so for me to see at least two more entries in the series sight-unseen.

Watch along with me, Yeti. You can be the Paul Walker to my Vin Diesel anytime.  :-*

The Fast and the Furious

YEEESSSS! So many lingering glances, so much unfulfilled sexual tension, so many great lines!

"I smell....shanks. Why don't you girls pack up and leave before I leave my treadmarks on your face."

"You can have any beer you want...as long as it's a Corona. This is premium stuff, enjoy it."

"You can get yourself a cheese burger and fries for $2.99, phaggot!"

"Nice car. What's the retail on one of those?"
"More than you can afford pal. Ferrari."

Tokyo Drift is the best Fast movie that emphasizes the "racing" part of the franchise. gtfo.

I just couldn't get over a movie calling itself "TOKYO DRIFT" having like no Japanese people in the main cast.   :lol

BTW, the post-credits scene in Fast 6 not only

Fast 6 trailer ruined Iron Man 3 and Star Trek.  Theater experienced peaked before the main feature starts.

When it played before Iron Man 3, that bit where the black guy says "now we work for the hulk?", a kid in the audience yelled out "IS THIS AVENGERS 2!?"  As if Avengers 2 could look that good.

One of the big things about Fast series is that it always has a multi racial cast. Plus there was main dudes gf and the drift king was Japanese so I dunno what you're even talking about.

2 Fast 2 Furious

I didn't realize John Singleton directed this movie. Fresh off his success(?) with Baby Boy, he brought back his muse Tyrese to try to fill the Vin Diesel-shaped hole in Paul Walker's heart, but it just was not to be. It's got some pretty nice driving, but that's pretty much it. Tyrese was hongry, but this movie wasn't much of a meal.

It's just funny to me is all.  But it turns out that Brian Tee (DK) is actually half-Korean, half-Japanese.  So there's that!   :lol

I keep wondering how it is that whenever American movies have Japanese characters, they're never played by Japanese people.  Like the movie Ninja Assassin, for example- featuring JAPANESE NINJA ASSASSIN RAIZO- Played by Korean actor Rain.  And Storm Shadow -heir to secret Japanese ninja clan Thomas Arashikage- in the G.I. Joe movies, is played by Korean actor Lee Byung-hun.

You forgot car customization. I remember after the fast and furious, more and more people started putting on rims, glow lights, all that shit on their car. The Fast and the Furious is a classic, if only because of cultural impact - like you said. It is completely undeniable.

Let's talk about cultural impact.  Things I remember about The Fast & The Furious:

  • After the movie, people got in their cars and revved the engines.
  • Idiots gunning it out of the movie theater parking lot.
  • People saying that they were going to head to their local auto parts shop to buy some "Nos."
  • "Street racing" suddenly becoming a much-bigger thing in my area.  distinguished mentally-challenged fellows got ticketed.

The Need for Speed series went from expensive sports cars to driving hondas with glowing bits in Underground.  There were a bunch of other street racing games around that time, too.  The tokyo xtreme racer series was ahead of its time.

all because of

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

East meets...South. I'm not feeling the love quite as much as Himu, but this movie was pretty alright. I can hate on a movie with two sweet montages (Homeboy learns to drift and they rebuild the Mustang). The street chase and the final race were pretty badass. Also, when Sonny Chiba showed up, that was pretty badass too.

"You like Micheal Jordan? I love Michael Jordan. Check this out, the brand new Jordans, not even out yet. Even LeBron James can't get these!"

The first time I saw even softcore porn was when I was 11 and went into the "models" section of a street racing website. I was thinking "OMG you can nearly see a nipple". And then I did a slow but sure googling of pictures of girls which I had never even thought of doing before until I finally saw nipples and the mysteriously shaped vagina.

SWEET FUCK :gladbron

I'm still digesting it. I think Furious 6 is up there but I'm not sure I'd place it above Tokyo Drift or Fast Five. It doesn't have the highs of Fast Five or the great character moments of Tokyo Drift but at the same time it feels like a blend of the two to the poi t where it didn't feel like it was its own thing - compared to Fast Five and Tokyo Drift which were refreshing.

Still who gives a fuck? Movie is fucking banger. SEE IT.

Tokyo Drift has montages and shit and is basically a martial arts film (Han = master, Cowboy = student) but with drifting cars and Initial D odes. Instead of solving problems with fists they solve problems by outracing the other guy. I can't hate on it. :sadbron

I just don't think Furious 6 is better. Some parts felt like a drag. Like the entire part where dude flies to America just for a flashback. What the fuck was that? I want CARS and VROOM VROOM. Movie also has far too many gun shoot outs when I want to see fuckers solve their problems with four tons of steel. It tries to unveil all these secrets and plot twists from the most boring film in the series - of course it has boring parts. Many areas felt too self serious and the film suffered for it. Not pleasant but it is what I think.

I could watch any other series with gun and fist fights. When I watch Fast and Furious I want cars and shit. Thankfully the name is apt. It is definitely Furious but it ain't Fast. Compared to Fast Five where about every fight involved vehicles. But the last twenty minutes (barring the ending :hyper) are pretty terrible.

But it's true! Every single physical confrontation in that movie, and most Fast and Furious movies, except this one for some reason, culminates with a high speed chase against the villain. The main exception is Fast Five, where it's about a heist, and even that culminates in a badass chase.

This isn't just a racing franchise anymore. That was extremely obvious after the last movie. And gun shoot outs? Every shootout in this movie was extremely short and led to a chase and/or fistfight. Really great fights btw, especially the ones between the female characters. It never dragged or felt too serious imo. Amazingly entertaining movie from start to finish.

Short? lol. Those fist fights weren't short. I think the only good fist fight was the Michelle Rodriguez and Gina Carano fight in the subway.

Also, who said anything about racing? Fast Five didn't have racing at all but it still involved every single confrontation with cars. They couldn't fight the Rock, he's a bloody juiced up monster.

Anyways movie is great and I'd love to see it again, but that Fast and Furious 4 stuff :zzz

Fast & Furious doesn't need to be all about cars anymore- they covered the street racing thing in multiple movies.  Drifting was done in one.  If they want to move in another direction, I'm all for it, since what was done in 5 and 6 is now enough.

Anyway, just saw Fast 6.  The movie was awesome awesome AWESOME but I think I like Fast 5 better.

Poor Han.   :'(  He loses his girl and then the way it just cuts to his retconned(?) death scene in Tokyo Drift makes it like it all went to shit for him so quickly.    :lol :'(

Also Toretto and Letty- it was weird that they got back together in the end, seriously.  I think he should have stayed with the other woman and Letty should have gone off to do her own thing.

Bring on Fast 7!

Michelle R is a bigger name.

But fuck, she looks OLD in Furious 6. I swear she only has makeup (in the traditional sense) on in one scene.

The logical end-game for the Fast and Furious franchise, at this point, is post-apocalypse.

Another thing, it's kinda funny that a series about people driving cars fast has more continuity whoring than a Geoff Johns comic book. Watching all the movies back-to-back, I noticed a lot of little things:

- Corona & Nos product placement (Every Fast movie, obviously)

- "You read the brochure." (Fast 3)

- "Sorry about the nose." "Not again!" (Fast 4)

- Tyrese being hongry all the time. (Fast 2)

- "You wanted to go night diving." (Los Bandoleros short-film)

- "You went from stealing DVD players..." (Fast 1)

- "...to stealing vaults." (Fast 5)

- The house rules for saying grace (Fast 1, 5)

- Dom's Charger (Fast 1, 4, 5)

- Han's chip eating habit (Fast 3, 5)

Yup. One of the best things about the franchise. Each movie adds to the story. One of the few films in Hollywood like that.

Saw the first two. Why do people hate on 2 so much? I liked it as much as 1, maybe even more. It didn't take itself as seriously, was much more funny, and had more ridiculous action sequences. Plus the homoeroticism was cranked up to 11.

Going to watch 3 tonight.

Well, I think Fast series is about two things:

1. racing
2. heists

In 2 Fast 2 Furious the story is focused around being undercover. It turns what made the original so unique into just a typical hollywood film. Plus some of the dialogue :lol Isn't there like only one car chase in 2 Fast? Aside from the race, it lacks cars and it lacks heists and it feels like some weird cop buddy movie.

At least it had this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xxZ6kju6xo

But like Beezy said, none of the movies are bad.

Isn't there like only one car chase in 2 Fast?

Well it depends what you want to count as a car chase. There were actually quite a few car/racing sequences in the film.

1. The intro race to introduce you to the characters where they do the bridge jump
2. The awesome "audition" race where Tyrese and Paul Walker were weaving in the lanes flirting with each other
3. Where they raced the Fonzie guy and his goon for pink slips so they could get cars without GPS tracking
4. The race to get the money to the mafia guy while the police are chasing them

Honestly, I don't dislike any of these movies. 3 was the only one I ever had real hate for because of Bow Wow, but he was less annoying to me on repeat viewings.

I watched 3 yesterday, and Bow Wow didn't bother me all that much, but that might have been because of how much I REALLY REALLY dislike the main character of this one. Man, was he duuuuuumb. Every time he spoke it infuriated me. He was just obnoxious all around, I can't think of a single redeeming quality about him beyond his loyalty to Han (who I did like). That said, I still liked the movie, but it so far is my least favorite. I'm about to watch Fast and 4ious though, and it seems there is a consensus that it is the worst, so we shall see.

So I liked it, but I can't let that ending go without saying something. I couldn't suspend my disbelief for that ending, it went on too long for what was going on. But I loved those damn flip cars and the chase in london. I question what they will do next. Justin lin essentially closed up all storylines in the game. Where was eva mendes? I thought she would be in the movie, I love that gal from Haywire she's awesome in this.

I will be honest I nodded off a few times but it's cause I was extremely tired. But then the Dbox would kick in and I'd be good. They need to invent napping movie theaters where you get a room to yourself and when it detects you've nodded off it pauses the movie.
