Well this came out of nowhere.

Looks to have some different mechanics and an RPG-like leveling system.
-
:oreilly
-
DOA5 Ultimate is also going to offer a F2P model. Seems to be the new thing for fighters.
-
soooo... you pay per character? assuming there are characters that are free to play (obv) are they gonna be static or will they revolve like LoL? Purely online play? character customization as paid DLC?
I dont really see how this makes business sense, but maybe that's cuz I ain't no businessman.
edit: shoulda read the description for the video
Crafted by NAMCO BANDAI Games' internal TEKKEN development team, TEKKEN REVOLUTION provides fighting game fans and newcomers alike the hard-hitting gameplay of the famed franchise. Choose from an initial cast of eight iconic TEKKEN characters to train and battle against AI opponents in Arcade Mode or take on fearsome human rivals spanning the globe through online Ranked and Player Matches. The game also features new bone-crunching Special Arts and Critical Arts moves designed to help newcomers deliver hard-hitting attacks and advanced players to employ new strategies with their favorite fighters. For the first time in TEKKEN history players will be able to level-up their characters, increasing three key attributes; Strength, Endurance and Vigor, to create a combatant tuned to individual play styles. Develop a defensive tank character with high HP to withstand knockout blows while offense focused players can create a damage-inflicting character with low health but high critical hit rates to devastate opponents with a flurry of attacks.
Supers, Ultras and stats? hm.

Sounds like a balance nightmare.
-
as long as it doesn't replace the main series
I think they're just trying to line their coffers by getting in on the ground floor.
-
Interesting idea, although Tekken sales have been decreasing lately so I guess it's a logical jump. I hope that the game is balanced well enough, F2P would assume otherwise but if the main Tekken team is working on this they might try to keep things legit.
-
So, it isn't bad... but it isn't too good either. I dunno how I feel about the juggle property being gone (it really screws me up when I see myself launch someone try to "combo"/juggle them and can't do it only for them to do it on me) with bound removed. But the always-on and limited number of plays kinda kills it a little. It really does need an offline mode for people to play it more than 5-15 mins a pop.
-
it does need training mode and I think they'll put one in. Harada said they're supporting it long term, send ideas, etc.
It's bullshit that you have to wager coins just to warm up! I like the game though. I'll keep playing it.
-
I played a few matches, then suddenly couldn't upload data anymore and quit. Noticed that everyone on my friends list playing at the time also quit out. They need to get that fixed.
-
Love when someone is kicking my ass, then they're trained to think I won't spam special moves when they get in, then I win by doing that :lol
-
Whats the gameplay like compared with TTTT bork?
-
This is weird, AFAIK this is mostly recycled TTT2 content with new gameplay tweaks I'm nowhere knowledgeable to figure out. Bork can fill you in I'm sure.
I noticed that the music is all new though and is awesome, SanoDG and crew rocking nuts off as is normal. Pity I'm not really gonna play this one as extensively as I play the mainline Tekkens though :(
And srsly what's up with that toon shader on everyone, it just looks bad
-
This game is just Tag 2's mechanics without bound.
-
The biggest change is that some moves were given different properties to make them "special moves." They've been sped up like crazy, do more damage, a bunch of invincible frames, have a bunch of blur/lighting on them, are making everyone cry, and are hilarious.
-
Invincibility frames :orly

WHOAAAAAA OA OAAA OAAA OAAAAAAAA OA OA OAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Invincibility frames :orly
yeah. If you wait till like the 2nd or 3rd round without doing a special move, you can pretty much take the whole round with special moves because they'll be doing the same shit they'd been conditioned to do in the previous rounds. Especially with Lili-- her move has i-frames and does a little quick backdash that avoids most normals.
This won't work on people who are decent at the game though, since most of these moves are easy to block/punish.
-
I think i'll stay far away from this then.

I-frames aren't that bad unless you're attacking mindlessly. If you see them starting to flash, BLOCK. You'll block the attack and then punish them hard due to the super attack/i-frames giving them a massive frame disadvantage.

lol. I guess someone was expecting "Press A to awesome" to win them matches in a fighting game :smug
-
Because I already have TTTT and I dont want to deal with this added bullshit.

DON'T CARE, ALREADY SHUNNED
jk, that's understandable. I don't know quite why I like Revolution, but it has me hooked. I may have made those moves sound bad, but they really aren't a problem and actually make it much easier to cut to decent competition online. You just can't rush down quite as hard.

If anyone is still playing this, a big update is supposed to be coming out today.
They had a poll before to select a new character for the game. This is what was first place:

The update seems to have been released everywhere but in North America. :lol
