I really want to say 449 but realistically, 499.
-
$399 because that would be the most funny.
-
I actually think Kinect-less Sony can beat MS on price, and I promise you (like Eel) they're doing EVERYTHING in their power to eek out even a $20 advantage before this afternoon's conference
-
I'll fall out my seat if it's $399
$449 at the lowest IMO
-
$399 because that would be the most funny.
.
-
No $699 option?
going with $450 because reasons. $399 would be most lulzy tho
-
I just picked the option that sounded funniest in my head
-
$399 would be the best but there will probably be price parity at $499
-
if Sony can hit $399 it will be the bombazaldroppen heard round the world.
I'm thinking more than $400 but under $500. $449 or $479 are probably the most likely.
-
$399 would be an echo of 1995, when they crushed Saturn's quite reasonable hype with the devastating $100-cheaper announcement.
I think its only possible if there's a catch, like a mandatory PS+ subscription or if the bundle lacks something you will effectively need (think PS Vita memory cards!)
I'm thinking their marketing team will tell them to veer away from FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE, but given what they're offering above and beyond Xbox One, I think they can make a good case for 549. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new PS3 SKU a la Xbox Mini.

$499, or $399 with 2-year PS+ subscription? I think you called it
-
FIVE HUNDRED NINTY NINE US DOLLARS
FIVE HUNDRED NINTY NINE US DOLLARS
FIVE HUNDRED NINTY NINE US DOLLARS
-
they better play the Rains of Castamere before announcing a $399 price
-
How do you market 399$+15$/month though. I'm not sure PS+ has the attention of the general public like xbox live does. When I got my ps3 in october I had no idea what PSN or PS+ did, and I follow games.

heh, if they do that, ms is gonna feel some butthurts. ps+ is a strong service.

Probably some value adds (like voice) will be rolled into PS+, and they'll play up the games (many quite goods ones) that have come to the service over the past year. It's not a super hard sell, especially with some minor refocusing of the message.
-
lol. it's not gonna be 399. you guys are smoking.
-
I bet they punt to Gamescom
-

I can already see the GIF of Walder Frey grinning, drinking from his cup, inter-cut with the PS4 price announcement

I'm also worried about the free games. If you only have 15 games for the first few months on your system you can't give them away. No backwards compatibility means they can't give away old games. Indy games might be ok but 15/month to have access to minecraft isn't going to make people happy for long.
-
They might do that for the DRM tho :heh
:larry
-
Kicking a price announcement further down the road would be full of foreboding, it would become #1 remaining question - the one that would be repeated by journalists over and over the Summer. Better to get it over with like ripping off a band-aid.
-
There was some rumor about two skus
$429--no camera,"small" hdd
$529--camera,large hdd
-
lol. it's not gonna be 399. you guys are smoking.
hopium
-
$449 base unit, $499 bundle of some sort
-
I could see a subsidized 399 model alongside a 499 model w/ larger HD.

so nintards have branded their strong-ass drugs, then?

If you're a game company pitching a new system, are you trying to include a summary of the obviously anti-consumer aspects of it in your stage presentation? They might be more forthcoming in Q&As after, but i highly doubt they're gonna bring that shit up tonight
my emote meant "that's probably correct and I don't have a great feeling about that, but what are you gonna do?"
-
It needs shoulders for that.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-06-10-ps4-to-launch-with-3-models-most-expensive-at-USD599-rumor
Microsoft today announced a hefty price tag for its Xbox One console launching this November: $499. Sony, however, may be going higher than that, as GamesIndustry International has learned from a source close to the company that PS4 may launch with three versions, the highest being priced at $599.
The details are expected to be clarified at Sony's own E3 press conference this evening; it's currently unclear what the main differences will be among the PS4 SKUs, but our source said that Sony's looking to push 4K resolution technology as a "stepping stone" to glasses free 3D.
While cheaper versions of the PS4 (possibly as low as $399) will make a purchase much more palatable to the average consumer this holiday season, it's somewhat surprising that Microsoft and Sony are pushing hardware at such high price points. The PS3's launch at $599 back in 2006 was a very sore spot for the company, and console manufacturers are facing increasing pressure from other platforms, including tablets, smartphones and the PC itself with services like Steam. $499 and $599 will be hard to swallow for many.
3 skus

They got good shit. Kind of a pain in the ass to deal with cause they make you sit around and play Mario Kart with them for an hour instead of just doing the deal and letting you leave.

If it's $399, I will buy one at launch. Fuck it, why not.
-
If they have The Last Guardian at launch and a 400€ SKU... Hm. HM.
NO. Still need a new GPU. Fuck consoles (for now).
-
Voted 479 cuz FIRST
479 would be nice , if nothing else just to see MS and xboners spin how Xbone is much better value because it includes Kinect
-
Rumors going out that there are three SKUs, from $399 to $599
we're all winners!
-
ms will cry if 399 happens.

Sweet.

-
Man they were absolutely beating down microsoft from the 'used games can be played' onward until the very end showing the price. I love how when they announced no drm and restrictions the whole conference became one and they all rejoiced for a few minutes, totally absorbing the joy from the punches that were being dealt :lol
-
ahhh sweet hopium

Conference went from "man this is boring" to "woohoo no DRM and $399!"

Pretty much, the conference would have been shit if it wasnt for those announcements.
-
PS+ requirement for online makes this effectively more expensive, but Sony reached a price I thought unthinkable yesterday... Which is... Awesome actually.
Well done Sony! I'm in.
Microsoft are so fucked.
Nintendo need to drop to $250 ideally.
