lol, you're backing this horse and not DR3? LMAO
-
I thought I was done with shooters, but the footage of this game is giving me arena-shooter flashbacks. I grew up on that genre and I'd be happy to return to it.
lol, you're backing this horse and not DR3? LMAO
I already have two Dead Risings, how many Titanfalls do I have? HUH, WHAT'S THAT? NONE? FUCKING RIGHT.
-
You've got plenty of mech shooters. LMAO
-
None of them look like this! Whatever bitch, my jimmies can't be rustled by you. You'll just have to take them off of me :-*
-
What mech shooters do we have? Hawken?
Yeah this game looks awesome. Loving the traversal options. Dosen't look like it will suck to be out of a mech.
-
shooterzzzz :zzz

And the F2P Mech Warrior. Blacklight Retribution has mechs, but you're better off not launching one in most cases.

shooterzzzz :zzz
go back to your garbage eurojank and let us bro out in here

looks amazing
PC :bow
-
Thought it looked awesome. Futuristic but fast paced. Looked to retain the good stuff from COD while re-inventing things. I'm excited for it. Especially since I don't plan to buy the non-Treyarch COD games anymore.

Ehhhh, looks like Halo and COD had a baby...
-
I'm ok with that.
-
Ehhhh, looks like Halo and COD had a baby...
problem?
-
Looks like a cross between Tribes, CoD, and Mechwarrior.
-
Ehhhh, looks like Halo and COD had a baby...
Soooo... perfect?
-
The main thing for me is it looks very fast paced. I like that they seem to have maintained their strengths from COD. MY only real concern is the source engine. I've never really liked that engine or how it felt. But I have faith that the guys behind COD 4 aren't going to make a game with sloppy controls.
-
Looks like Killzone :yeshrug
Really? Because it doesn't look like the player is moving underwater. Actually it looks quite the opposite.
You guys, just because a gun is on the bottom-right of the screen doesn't mean it's like every other FPS out there. You can clearly see what sets this apart from other shooters, but if you don't care about the genre at all... why are you in this thread?
-
I didnt mean it as an insult. I like grey shootybangs with mechs and i'll buy this one.
it's okay, I didn't take it as one ;)
looking forward to skating around in a mech with you and the rest of the BOREsquad next year :heartbeat

If I didn't know I'd be sure this was the COD engine. It looked and "felt" the same as COD4 to me. Very fast, very fluid. All in all a pretty amazing showing for this game.
You should download the 60 fps version of the 5 minute video. I must have watched the damn video like 10 times. It's eerily smooth. Not the sharpest looker ever but man its so fluid it makes up for it.
-
There are a bunch of neat little details I noticed in that 60FPS 1080p trailer. I love how the mechs help you get inside them, and the little animations when players skitter up ledges.
God, I need this game so bad. Lemme pre-order it on Origin or Steam or wherever the fuck you wanna put it, goddamnit just take my fucking money, EA
-

There is a part where a guy ejects from one of the mechs high up into the air and then another mech rail guns him as he is falling. It's amazing in 60fps. Battlefield in the fall. This in the spring. My shooter needs are set.
Activision was nuts to alienate these guys and force them out.

To be fair, most console gamers don't play PC games. So it basically will be exclusive to the average joe.

I'm still not impressed with this game. The only part that had my eyes wide in the gameplay video was the end when he safety jumped out of his mech and then landed on the enemy's mech. I'm not seeing the supposed Quake vibes aside from the fact you jump high. Watching the gameplay demo, Borys' Quake comparison is nothing short of hyperbole.
Then again, I can't stand modern fps games.
Stoney said it's fast paced I watch it and I'm like, what? I think it's slow as fuck. Will stick with TF2.
-
How does this remind anyone of an arena shooter? I'm confused.
-
wall-run chaining sold me.
Getting to jump on a mech being all like HOLD DEEZ NUTS NICCA while digging around in it's exposed brain computer is a neat bonus. even if it turns out to be scripted and/or useless.
-
How does this remind anyone of an arena shooter? I'm confused.
if you've actually played modern FPS games, you'd know that they're a lot slower and not at all vertical like this game. The jump button is more like an obstacle in the typical FPS, especially in CoD and BF.
In this game, not only is jumping useful, it seems to be necessary for survival and is only one of many agile maneuvers. Another thing you might notice is the importance of switching between an assortment of weapons that are attuned to dispatching either a titan or pilot. Both of these things echo some of Quake 3's core concepts like a wide variety of situational weaponry and its emphasis on player mobility.
If the most modern FPS you've played is TF2, then maybe fast movement speed and weapon variety isn't all that novel to you, but know that TF2 was the last time a multiplayer FPS did those things, and it came out in 2007.
-
Has anyone made a gif of the transition from foot to mech? I thought it looked cool at e3

The most modern FPS I've played was Farcry: Blood Dragon.
When I think of an arena shooter, I think of 1. fast movement, 2. fast shooting, 3. open ended, large levels with varying layers of vertacality. I saw none of this in that video.
Looks pretty boring aside from the wall running and boosting.
-
Seriously, you can rip someone out of a mech suit, throw them in the air, and shoot them to shit. IF that doesn't interest you then you suck
:rejoice
-
I'm talking about multiplayer FPS, dingus.
And you should do a little more research, because everything you just listed is all that Respawn keeps talking about with regards to this game. I don't understand how you think those stages are small, or the shooting is slow, but whatever -shrug- did you even watch the 60fps video in the OP? I'd consider giving that a look before you comment on the game's speed.
-
Last multiplayer fps I played was BLOPS.
As for the speed, the rate of fire is astounding. But movement is pretty standard modern fps. I prefer my shooters to feel like I'm gliding. Like Scout in TF2.

you can tell how a game feels by looking at it? :o

My personal fear is that it has that sliding feel I hate in most of the source engines games I've played. I hate that. It always feels weird to me.
I'm hoping that's not an engine thing.
-
god are we going to have to hear about this for the next six months?
all this positive buzz is firing up my trolling engines, hardcore
More than six months, it's not due until 2014
-
I'm just really excited for this game, y'all. And if you (by which I mean anyone) aren't, why even post in this thread? You don't see me strollin' into a game's official thread only to spend multiple posts tearing it down. I just wanna circlejerk with some FPSbros :'( Nothing about this game seems suspect to me, it all adds up to "no-brainer guaranteed fun". The talent behind MW1 + EA's money + Source engine + jetpacks + robots, if all of that isn't enough to set this game apart from the sea of shooters out there, then maybe just ignore this thread?
god are we going to have to hear about this for the next six months?

Gonna give the shilling a rest now, I'm as tired of it as you probably are. The new issue of Game Informer was just the infodump I needed to sedate myself until the next press release.
-
What? No one is strolling and trolling in this thread. We are discussing the game. That is what forums are for. It just happens that fps is my least favorite genre and this game got the IGN game of the show award. I don't see why people shouldn't be able to discuss their complete apathy towards one of gamings current saving graces.
-
I didn't accuse anyone of trolling, re-read my post.
-
meh. who gives a shit either way. It's pretty clear on the board who tends to gravitate towards mp shooters and who doesn't. It's no big deal to have interest or no interest in one. Drew was annoying in that other thread because he wanted to console troll in a thread about a game. But expressing interest or lack of interest in a game thread is fine. As long as people don't turn things in vendettas.
Battlefield 4 and Titanfall were far and away the most exciting games of E3 to me but then I'm a pretty big shooter fan.
-
It's not that I don't like shooters, I'm just really picky about them. It takes a lot for me to like an mp fps. If movement in the game were about 50% faster I'd probably like it.
-

same here, but I guess where we differ is that I find this game incredibly appealing. Was there any FPS you felt hype for outta E3?
-
Destiny looks cool because you can pop in and out of people's games and it has a class system and open world.
-

In the same way that some people on here play most of the fighting games I tend to play most of the shooters. Only a few tend to reach an elite status in my mind but I tend to like at least some aspects of all them and its interesting to see how different devs approach fps design.
-

Also has loot and /dance :gloomy

Sounds like me an rpgs.

Forgot about loot. LOOT will change me.
-
i was going to troll
i might still, depending
you should go for it, I'm genuinely interested in an Oscar-quality troll about this game
-
yeah, one of the things they say in the GI story is how their sci-fi influences are stuff like Blade Runner and District 9, as if nearly every sci-fi game isn't drawing from the exact same well :lol
at least Destiny has a more unique look, but honestly a lot of it kinda looks like a cross between rejected Star Wars and Halo concepts
-
In any case, I like the idea of Titanfall. Guys with boosters and wall jumping is up my alley. Maybe they have a class system where you play as a super light soldier. Fuck mechs. Give me GunValkyrie in fps form.

:wtf What is this, GAF?

I wasn't expecting that to stop anyone :P
-
Sessler looks and acts like a coke fiend in that video
-
There's a thread about it on GAF. Something about descent into madness. E3 totally destroyed him.
-
meth.
not even once a year.
-
Sessler :lol
Maybe this game is the silver bullet that industry needs.
Focus all your efforts on MP,add a drop of SP(just for PR),sell it for $60 and ask for some online subscription money.Microtransactions would be good too.

Battlefield 4 and Titanfall were far and away the most exciting games of E3 to me but then I'm a pretty big shooter fan.
As someone who became disenchanted with multiplayer shooters in 2010 (really, 2009), Titanfall is first exciting competitive shooter I've seen in some time. In a lot of ways my time with BF3 showed me that I can't relive my experiences with old favorites; felt that way with Halo Reach, too. Titanfall looks both fresh and familiar to me. This is long-winded way of saying that I completely understand the excitement for Titanfall while being largely apathetic towards the genre as a whole.
I hope there's a beta for 360 or PC. That's ultimately what sold me on CoD4 back in the day.

Gamescom 2013 trailer. I came.
http://youtu.be/qzYDrzk1xs4
-
Game looks amazing.
-
game elements look cool but I hope actual gameplay has some breathing room. clusterfucks are not my thing.
-
Game still looks absolutely sick to me. Battlefield 4 for me in the fall and Titanfall in the Spring. Both look awesome.
-
Holy fuck.
-
Call of duty with wall running, super jumps, and giant mechs. Cool. :-[
-
1:25 in that trailer, when he wall jumps twice does a 180 and grabs the ledge. what gets me is that the added mobility alone make it a fresh take on call of duty, but the mechs put it over the top. hitching a ride on another mech :omg
-
Yeah, the fact that you can use the jetpack after every jump makes it look like a lot of fun to scale buildings. Platforming in a competitive FPS :drool the part where the player just hangs out on the back of their own autopilot Titan looked so rad. It's basically a seige tower.
To think, we haven't even seen the details of the progression system/all the different weapons/player customization or anything. All the videos so far only give a fairly surface-level look into the game and it's still so impressive. I wonder what the collector's edition will look like :hyper
-
Its source engine, deal with it ;)
Im def picking this up, that platforming reminds me of Mirrors Edge mmm this gonna be good!
-
Yeah if you're looking for a graphical showcase, you're probably gonna look elsewhere. It's comforting to know that my mid/high-end rig won't need much of an upgrade to max it. Personally, I think this game could be untextured gray blocks and the way you interact with the stages and other players would still be riveting.
-
Game isn't the prettiest game on the horizon but I don't really care. Graphics don't equal fun. And the game looks smooth as hell. That's all that matters for me.
Battlefield, Destiny, Killzone shadow fall all look better.
If I was to pick a shooter that I think is left in the cold now it would be Killzone Shadow Fall. That was a shooter who's main niche was being the best looking shooter on last gen consoles. Now that it looks like every other shooter on the market relatively speaking graphics wise, I don't really understand its niche anymore.
-
To each his own. I never really liked the series but I did think it looked great compared to other shooters of its time. Maybe its the art style or something but graphically it doesn't blow me away at all anymore. So that leaves gameplay that I never thought was especially great.
-
Who cares about graphics? The game looks awesome. Stfu.
-
Who cares about graphics? The game looks awesome. Stfu.
Everyone cares about graphics. And this game is middling in that respect. Basic, Nintard-esque post.
Bollocks. As far as multi-player goes I'm good so long as the framerate is above 60fps at all times. Eye candy on top is nice, but it's not a must.
-
I didn't say graphics don't matter, because they clearly do. But in the context of Titanfall, give me one reason to give a fuck when I'm wall jumping and mech riding and emergency escapin'? In terms of aesthetic and sheer technicality, Titanfall is a pretty impressive mp fps.
I'm not sure why or what you're arguing here, and calling it an nintard-esque posts is touching on the fringes of banality. The fact it's a launch window next gen title makes your complaints even more ::) considering TF is hardly the exception to this rule.
I just don't get how anyone with a brain could complain about the graphics after watching that trailer released today. It completely blows my mind. It immediately is filed under 'who gives a shit' category in my brain.
-
I'm good so long as the framerate is above 60fps at all times. Eye candy on top is nice, but it's not a must.
This.
In a multiplayer game, I'll always take 60 or close to it versus half that.
