:lol
Im pretty sure part of what made cod or halo big is the zany sp part, sure peeps stay for the mp but... No sp seems like a cop out for whats supposed to be a big game.
-
Well, nobody invested in MP touches SP at all. Same for Battlefield.
I think SP for a new IP is a good idea since nobody really knows how to play... but, we'll see I guess.
-
I never got Halo until I co-oped it with a friend. And then I got into the Multi. Seems odd to just throw SP out altogether.
-
I spent hundreds of hours in mp in the cods this gen.
But ive always played the sp first.
Its like part of the experience.
Sure I dont need it and ill still buy mp only games, but this seriously seems to hamper to potential of the game.
If youre trying to establish a new ip this doesnt seem the right way :/
-
Maybe they'll have bot matches like the old BF games did.
-
The last time I was this hyped for an FPS based on its similarity to arena-shooters of yore was Team Fortress 2, another multiplayer-only game, so this doesn't bother me.
It's especially easy to swallow given how Respawn is trying to weave the scripted/cinematic moments into multiplayer matches. Judging by the videos we've seen, I'd say their effort has paid off.
-
weird I kept reading that it's blending single and multiplayer. it's possible I imagined that.
maybe it is bots like eel said and dynamically subs in real players when available. bots are characterized by friends' shootatards.
-
They did say "blending single and multiplayer", and they went into detail about what they meant on day 2 of GiantBomb's E3 podcast (http://youtu.be/2Rx2KiO2nYA?t=1h16m26s). They want to have a decent amount of exposition and world-building weaved into things like the mission-briefings/level design/matches rather than leading you by the nose through a single-player stage production.
-
That sounds afwul imho
The two things dont mesh, i dont need no story when im killing noobs
But i do like my sp experience
-
Then... don't play this game? I don't think they want to bog your multiplayer experience down with story, but rather, give you the choice to engage with a story, where most multiplayer-only games have no choice at all!

When you put it that way it sounds like what Brink was attempting.

I get the feeling a developer comprised of the people who set the standard for modern multiplayer FPS, backed by what is surely a gargantuan budget, probably have a better chance at executing on that promise than Splash fuckin' Damage.
-
and I'll keep shilling until this game sucks
-
destiny is doing the same thing, i think
i enjoy single player as it gives you time to get to know how the game is played before getting raped in mp. it also gives players a chance to get to know the universe and story (lol) in a way that doesn't seem possible in a multiplayer only w/story beats
-
Well I mean what they showed looked very mp. Either way, this deflates my interests. I just like to have a single player to go through.
This reminds me of Brink.
-
who needs 9hrs of half baked bullshit single player. Give me a giant robot and let me blow shit up. :rejoice
-
:mynicca
-
I've never played single player in the latest Battlefield games.
-
Modern Warfare 1 had a nice single player campaign.
-
Give me a campaign and all play though it as long as it's not terrible.
I played through Battlefield 3's sp two times because it's pretty.
I only buy CoD games for the SP.
I even played through Medal of Honor Warfighter's SP!
Their easy and take maybe a day. And I guess I just like the idea of playing this "experience" whatever it is complete with characters, places, and some sort of narrative.
So it kind of sucks when a game doesn't have a sp to me. And well I'm kind of interested in what kind of rolloar coaster ride TitanFall could have presented with it's mech infused sci fi world. So the news kind of sucks.
-
File this under who cares.
If you're still buying multiplayer focused shooters for the single player you are absolutely doing it wrong.
-

I'm not disagreeing with what you said, and Brink was merely the closest comparison, but how dare you knock Splash Damage! Wolfenstein multiplayer was so goddam good back in the day...like ten years ago...just ignore what they've done since then.
-
Quake Wars was good-ish. I wish more games would take it's objective ideas. Same with Frontlines. It has a good idea, and could be expanded on. I just want more objectives in online FPS. I've never liked deathmatch or whatnot.
-
Doesn't seem like a game that really needs single play outside of skirmish-missions or training modes. I'm all for that, personally.
-

I was going to make a witty remark, but you beat me to it :P

Didn't they already say they're going to have bots in the game?
As it is, Destiny is doing similar (yes, that's an MMOFPS but go with me on this) but there's no backlash over that not having a single-player instance. Why is it different here? Because this isn't an "MMO?"

Wolfenstein ET :bow
will we ever get a sequel :'(
-
i really don't get why this game is a big deal, besides the fact that they and MS are telling everyone that it's a big deal
-
Probably because it looks kick ass and its made by the people who created two of the most popular and influential multiplayer shooters ever. Not exactly befuddling.
-
if you buy this game and an xbox one you aren't part of the problem, you are the problem.

I don't buy consoles or games to get cool points from random people on the internet. If you do that's your business.
But then your question/post really wasn't about Titanfall. It was a troll post so there is also that.
-
cool points? it's about voting with your dollar.
-

just get it for PC, dipshit

I care about real voting. Like elections and guns and taxes and free speech issues. Not videogame voting where people think what videogame console they purchase is an important and defining life choice.

you're taking this almost personally dude, i get it you're excited, trying to trick yourself that this is he next big thing, i've been there , with PDZ...
cajole i have a circa 2007 mbp and a bootcamp install that is unusable, i'm considering taking on building a rig but there's so much to learn if you want to do it right and i work 70 hours a week
-
if you don't feel that MS' direction warrants drastic consumer checking then that's how you feel and oh well. I do.

You better start writing your congressman. Make sure to toss in some ramblings about gun control too.

:(
(i don't have a pc that could play it, either, at the moment)
-

already did that and so did a lot of other people and guess what? it worked! if you were as much of a cool cuke as you profess to be you wouldn't be getting an itchy butt just from the random thoughts from an out of touch vidja fan (if you didn't catch it before when i said I work two jobs anywhere from 70-100 hours a week, hell it took me a week just to youtube E3)
-
No it has not. It's the next-gen Quake 3 and I am 100% fine with that.
I love it when you talk like that :drool :hump
-
Blame people for not playing SP.
$60 multiplayer games :bow
Things change
-

word. q3 was the tits
-
bububuuuuut "videogame voting" with your money is a fools errand for man baby basement dwellers. you should be worrying about casting ballots like a big boy :wag

:lawd :mynicca :whoo
-
Battlefield didnt blow up either till it adopted sp and shit ( on consoles)
Remember shadowrun yall?
Maybe the market is ready for an all mp game on consoles now though.
Ill still play this ofc, on my ps4 or pc.
-
from a quality point of view it's fun to point at quake 3, but quake 3 was a huge failure for id and a lot of that was pinned on the lack of single player. that was a really, really long time ago, though.
yeah but it was still cool tho
-

First thing to ever make me interested in Titanfall.

You buying PS4, K? Welcum to da club :hump
Borys, will you play some coop with me? :hump
-
No single player in fps games is fine by me.
-
so no horde horde mode or any coop missions like spec ops?
shitbin
-
What? They haven't spoken about any other mode but what we saw in E3 footage, and I'm willing to be they'll have some sort of horde/co-op mode, since they had one in MW2.
-
horde morde that's humans against an endless stream of mechs would be awesome, and vice versa.
-
As they're incorporating story into the MP, it's more likely that the role traditionally held by SP's story will be in the MP instead. You can play Left 4 Dead as a single player game; it's just not the optimal experience.
-
So is there anything more to those Titans, or are they basically the shooter versions of super mushrooms?
-
You trade the ability to jump for dashes in the Titan, and other obvious trade-offs like being easier to flank but deadlier face-to-face
-
who cares. MECH SUITS. Jump packs. Speed and mobility aren't an issue here.
-
Uh I just noticed that this won't have any vehicles because of Titans. Hmmm...
this is more call of duty on steroids than battlefield
