This was the only game I've pirated in the last two years, guess I can torment myself now legally.

I got him on my first try. On easy it's not that difficult.

Edit: And, yeah, everyone should play this.

i never reached the final boss,i think my best was sector 5? i got killed by some slug

i like the idea of the game but the execution just isn't there, there isn't enough random stuff to incentivate repeated play and combat feel really molassey, game really needs more event (especialy considering how many of them punish the player for taking any action like the giant spider one) and a turbo mode

spoiler (click to show/hide)
there are no loli's etc etc :uguu

I feel like I've already played 100 games and I don't really get your complaints. More events wouldn't hurt though.

Also, you don't want a turbo mode. Some things need to be timed correctly (like cloaking before missles hit), which would be impossible if it went any faster. It'd have to become a turn based game without animations to go any faster.

Also, for anyone having trouble with the boss: The thing has some really good weapons but the ship layout is very, very flawed. *hint, hint*

when you start the game a lot of the starting fight can be boiled down to "click missile, shield system... click laser, weapon system" as that quickly handle you the victory since it disable any chance for the enemy to defend or attack and yet you have to sit trough your weapon charging and shooting until the enemy ship explode and it make the first fights feel more chorish than they should, that's why i think the game needs a turbo mode or at least a "skip stuff until my weapon is charged again" button

a turbo mode would also mean not having to wait for your crew to fix the ship system when there is no danger for example

I only played the game like 4 times and got to him on my 3rd, but yeah was pretty annoying boss.  I got him down on health and then he escaped from battle and when I met him again my ship was already in wreck from the first battle and he was back to full health :|

Tbf, I have a lot of fun with rogues even if I don't "beat" them.  Just fun to do loot-y runs and see what happens and how far you can get.  So I still liked FTL.

Yeah, I don't expect to win every run (and I don't, by far :lol ), but it's still fun and I want to unlock all the ships eventually. It's a good podcast game, too.

I guess I forget the time when I play this, but those initial fights never felt like they take too long to me. I don't even use my missles half the time, because the Burst Laser II can punch through the weak shileds you see in the first sector.

Repair can get annoying though, but if there's no danger I usually just send everyone to repair. If you manage to get an Engi (they can't fight as well but repair faster) the problem disappears entirely.
