I have THREE SEPARATE COMBS and all of them have missing needles. Surprisingly these combs have lasted a year. They are strong, resilient combs. They're been awarded with the Medal of Honor and Purple Heart. They're vets. The day I lose them, the day I will cry, because I don't remember where the fuck I bought them.

Frohawks are the only thing that exist.
Oh my lord, this gif from that buzzfeed article

A thread for people with Afros? Himu needs to check his black privilege.

I had an afro from about 8th-11th grade. It was a big ass afro which in hindsight was ugly but I thought it was dope at the time. I was a backpacker super pro black nerd loser, rocking my afro with pride, posting on forums shitting on perms, weaves and 360 wave caps.
Then one day I went to the barber to get it cut off. The barber cut my hair off and was like "oh shit, fellas look at this nicca...he got MAD waves!" A couple barbers came over to look, one was like "damn son, you got that good hair! Look, good hair."
:fbm
I went home and listened to Blackstar :'(
-
Switched back and forth between a fro and braids from 9th to 12th grade. Mine was also big as hell and probably ugly but I loved it. All the non-black kids (like 98% of my HS) were amazed by it. Even my physics teacher asked to touch it once and said "I wish my hair could stand up like that." :lol

What if someone can't grow a fro

OMg :dead
I had people going on about my "good hair" as far as middle school. It made no sense! hair is hair, right?
:rofl at you giving people shit for wearing wave caps. I did the same shit. :lol
:dead at listening to blackstar in that pro-black backpacker rap phase. That was me :dead
What'd you think of Black on Both Sides at the time? I don't like it as much anymore because it's mostly made out of covers and tributes. :-X :yuck

Black On Both Sides was and still is classic to me.
I had to carry my pick with me because I knew someone would ask if they could touch my afro every other day, which really means "can I stick my finger as far as possible into the side of your afro."
-
Lol my fro was way more nappy than that, Himu. Picking it out was a serious fuckin struggle. I'd often wear a headband like Ben Wallace and have it pointed up.
-
As a Caucasian dude, I tend to envy black guys in some ways. Being able to grow an afro is #1 among them. So awesome.
-
Haha, don't be. Years of getting my hair braided in HS and early college has fucked up my hairline. Wish someone warned me about that back then. Now my hair only looks okay with a low ceaser cut. If I grew a fro now it would probably look terrible.
-
I miss my afro. Now I'm balding :'(
-
I've always been in a "fuck braids" mindset. Thankfully.
-
I never considered corn rows, never liked how they looked. Dread locks look nice though; my brother has some badass ones.
-
Years of dreads will take a toll on your hairline also.
-
I've never wanted dreads either. I prefer twists.
-
How does having a pony tail mess up your hair line? You pull on it that much?
-
how so
-
Depends on how high you tie it.
-
i like growing my hair out, but unfortunate limitations makes it so that im wearing a cap of sorts when im not at home or with my people.

I didn't know straightening hair could basically kill your fro forever until TD told me that's why the fro he had as a kid is never coming back. The more you know when you're white.
-
It actually damages the follicles?

huh? basically it's the same thing for anyone with curly hair. if you straighten your hair, your hair will be fucked.

People I know with curly hair who've done this aren't fucked. Depends on how harsh the chemicals are, the straightener used on black hair is obviously some of the harshest.
-
hence many black women going bald by the time they reach 35 years old. disgusting. There are so many nice, natural hairstyles - and non-destructive ways to straighten hair. But the destructive way is the fastest, and short term>long term for a lot of people.
smh
-
It is about method. Black people tend to burn hair straight and harsh chemicals.
