I recently spent 80 hours playing TLR on PC and this game is FUN! The battles are fluid and there are tons of special attacks and party members to get. Why did no one care about this jrpg again? It has everything that I wanted in a rpg this generation. Ok so the story is shit, but 90% of the jrpgs have shitty stories so it is not a deal breaker. However it is nice to see in this day and age a jrpg that isnt super linear as you can find lots of hidden towns and dungeons. Hell, there is barely a tutorial in this game. Sometimes you just stumble over sidequests and rare bosses that you had no idea that was there.
I think this game and FF13 are polar opposites of each other, it is sad that fans gave square the finger on this one while embracing the shitstain that was FF13.

I'm gonna try to get back into TLR once I finally finished Xenoblade, though who knows when that will be? :(
-
Yep, The Last Remnant was pretty fun. I could have done with half the length and none of the story though.

I am loving the long length and content this game have. I thought it was supershort, but I am 80 hours and still going. Completing all the quest guilds so addictive.

Ya, late to the party, I've been saying TLR is the best game ever. But since you're like wahhhh final fantasy bububu you must not have heard me.

I am converted to a TLR fan. Too bad we'll never see a sequel.
-
Because it is too hard for your average JRPG player, so they hate it and call it shit. :smug

Not a Kawazu game.
Development
The game's director was Hiroshi Takai, its executive producer was Akitoshi Kawazu,
does it have a battle system that doesn't make a lick of sense?
it's a kawazu game, even if he just looked at the game from a-far and just gave it a squint... *BAM* now the character level up by winning rock paper scissor tournaments
-
Still the best game to come out of SE in as long as I can remember. God-tier OST too

This is like saying Final Fantasy XIII is a Kitase game because he's producer; it isn't.

himuro i don't give a care about what or who,it was just a round-about way to say it's a bad game with a battle system that doesn't make any sense, like any game involving kawazu :heh

I tried to play it, but the battle system was confusing and the camera made it even harder to tell what was going on the whole time.
Ran really great on my computer though.

Because the PC version (that no one played) was awesome and redid the battle system which was SHIT on 360 (the version everyone and their mother played).
If Square had re-released the game with that redone battle system on 360... maybe it would've had a chance.

Exactly the 360 version might have been shit, but the PC edition is great.
-
There was nothing wrong with the 360 version, though.
Performance sure, but it's the exact same battle system with the exception you can't abuse the super strong leaders.

yeah it is not a big difference. PC version has turbo battles though, dont think those are in 360.
-
Only played the PC version, but enemies are balanced around you having groups full of leaders. Not like it's suddenly super easy mode.
I liked Last Remnant for the most part, didn't like the random rare spawns or guild quests based on them, though.
The rank system was good but should have done more to prevent dragon stat grinding.
-
Well fuck me. I missed out on the hardest boss and bonus dungeon because i entered a new town too early :'(
-
Moving away from Nintendo games did you good SantaC.
yes for sure. I rarely play Nintendo games these days because unlike gaf, I understand how shitty they become. They churn out new Mario games every year which are becoming more and more irrelevant. I bought a Wii U, but I havent touched it since January. X might be the only interesting game on that console.
My focus for next-gen is PS4 and PC only.

Yea, that is probably the biggest problem, having to rely on a guide for that.
If you were on 360, you would have to replay the entire game because there is an achievement for beating the Absolute Conquerer.
That said, the ending is exactly the same. You just miss out on satisfaction of beating a much, much harder version.

yeah bs like this pissing me off. I still love this game, but this is annoying. Especially since I have been visiting the pubs regularly.
Do you keep your stuff for a new game +?
-
I wasn't aware there was a NG+ -- is that a PC only thing?

yes apparently.
New Game +
Complete the game's storyline. The following are carried over to the new game: components, formations, gold, magazines, maps, Mr. Digg's status, and items that unlock arts for Rush (effectively Rush gains the first tier of those arts).

I was only aware of performance upgrades, and some tweaking of the combat system but there seems to be quite a few changes.

Shame this didnt get a physical release, I'd have bought it (again) already.
-
It did.
-
My favorite JRPG (RPG?) in recent memory. So fucking good.
I'm a SaGa whore though.
-
finished the game and all DLC bosses.
the lost remnant was fucking crazy. He spammed full heal after 3 rounds and armageddon after 5 rounds! You cannot survive armageddon.
Great game, sucks that it is so underrated.

Is it still showing up on the Famitsu most wanted list?
I picked up the PC version about a year ago, game is seriously awesome.
