Elderscrolls: Daggerfall 62,394 square miles that is like the largest map ever.
However but what about recent times?
How big is Xenoblade chronicles/Red Dead Redemption etc. Do we have any concrete numbers on these other than the time it takes to go from one end to another?
*from a non mmo

Nice to know someone keeps tack of these things. 400 miles squared is pretty big.
EDIT: What exactly is fuel?

Ah an open world racing game that got panned in reviews. :(

Literally the size of planet earth.
Okay, well, the parts where humans live or traverse. None of that Antarctic shit.
-
I bought it recently, but it keeps crashing or outright hardlocking my PC. Can't be arsed to do something about it so far, but I like the concept.

Don't worry too much about that, Fuel is a perfectly playable racing game. The biggest appeal, though, is just picking a vehicle and then tooling around the wasteland.

I dunno the actual size, but I know it takes ten real world minutes to walk from one corner of the RDR map to the other.
-
i'm gonna assume you meant gallop on horseback, and even then i wouldn't believe you.
-
okay

FUEL was fun to dick around with in MP.
"Hey gaiz, let's drive up to the top of that mountain!"
*30 minutes later*
"Yay, we did it!"

a map has four corners
On foot, from Cochinay to Nosalida, which is the roundabout longest diagonal map area to cross, took 28:25
On foot, from Nosalida to Rathskeller Fork, roundabout lowest left corner to furthest upper left corner, took 10:46

I knew this was Daggerfall for some reason, probably from the Next Generation review. ::useless game trivia::
:~(
-
Daggerfall's world was indeed massive, but it was mostly just the same tiles repeated over and over.

deadly premonition takes like 30 minutes to walk across
-
yeah, from the furthest corner diagonally it takes about that long in RDR

I wonder where Wind Wanker would fall, it seemed to take aaaaaages just to sail across a few squares of the map

Probably not as big as it seems when you have to stop and change the wind direction every 10 seconds.

How big was Skyrim? Seemed pretty big when I was playing it.
-
Skyrim is about the same as Oblivion.

Wonder if there's been an update on those map size comparisons for all the newer games. Curious about Read Dead, GW2, and maybe some of the minecraftian sandboxes.
