Well, at least this is a substantial update. And it's been a while.
Some time ago, Capcom announced that another free balance patch was coming for Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. Most thought this would be a "Version 2013" update and that would be it.
Well, Capcom being CAPCOM, they have decided to do what I figured was inevitable: Elena, Rolento, Hugo, and Poison from Street Fighter X Tekken will be added into the game, plus a mystery "new" fifth character who has not been revealed yet. In addition to the characters, six new stages and the balance updates will be included. This version of the game is coming to PS3, 360, and PC. $15 as add-on DLC for Super or $40 standalone.
Announced in this panel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqBpk3pczikQuote
If you want to buy the retail version of the game you get all the costumes for free (Capcom says this is a $40 value). Also if you preorder you get 5 new costumes for the new characters.
Well, the announcer said it's a new character "who has never been in a Street Fighter game before."
Personally I think they should just make a huge version of the game with every existing character not yet added from Alpha and SF3 and call it "SF4 Final Edition." There's not even that many characters left to add at this point.
Then start over completely fresh with SF5 in a few years.
Capcom doesn't do loli. Even Sakura, Karin, and yes even Ingrid don't fit that description.
angstygaijin: Any hints on the new fight locales?
Matt Dahlgren: The stages are actually the same ones you saw in SF x T. If you played them in that game, then they’ll look familiar to you.

I'm way more hyped for this version of the game than I was for AE. Never cared for Yun/Yang and two more shotos in Evil Ryu and Oni were a waste of character slots. This is definitely gonna get me back on SF4 again big-time and that's gonna be it for SFxTK.
Roll? B.B. Hood? Lilith?
Street Fighter hasn't done loli yet, but Capcom? Capcom loves them some loli.
Hopefully we'll get some new stages too :P
I JUST bought AE on a daily Steam sale last week, thinking "This is surely the last version they'll make!" :-\
Doesn't AE run on GFWL though, and it takes Capcom something like 6 months to certify any DLC for it?
SFxTK stages are being added.
Watch the 5th character be Asura from Asura's Wrath.
it's toro
or pac man

Sony and Namco characters? :what
So if I get this as an upgrade for my SSF4, do I get the AE characters with it, too? I skipped that version.
Aren't there like a million of these Street Fighter games already? Did we really need another one?
Robo which one are you getting?

Since I didn't pick up AE, I'm gonna wait for the physical edition.
Played for a good six hours online and stuck with new characters 90% of the time. From what I played/saw, it seems like Decapre and Poison are the best of the newcomers, followed by Hugo and Rolento, with Elena stuck dead last.Smfh, I can't win with SF4...
I gave Decapre a cursory look in training mode, def gonna need to put more time in to figure here out. She seems like she could be really cool, but so technical.
Poison remains frustrating. I dunno if she has a consistent AA. Most of them seem to trade which is kinda wack. Dem fireballs doe. Her elbow seems good too.

From what I played/saw, it seems like Decapre and Poison are the best of the newcomers, followed by Hugo and Rolento, with Elena stuck dead last. I still had fun using her though. Hard to believe that there are people who still get thrown off by healing, expecting it to be something offensive, lol.
Seeing a lot of complaints about problems online. I played endless lobbies only, in small 2 or 3 man rooms, and didn't have any issues. Seems like the larger ones are where the problems lie. It will be fixed soon enough though. All of this reminds me of when vanilla SF4 and SSF4 came out.
Not sure who I am going to stick with just yet. I want to switch up and main someone new for sure.Since I didn't pick up AE, I'm gonna wait for the physical edition.
You know you can upgrade from Super too, right? Just want to be sure. :)
Was doing well with her tonight, mainly by playing at medium range, doing some quick pokes/going for rekkas up close, then backing away and zoning. When you're medium range, you've not only got fireballs, but also her flip stomp/grab move, which goes over projectiles. One guy told me after a bunch of battles that he had no idea how to stop that-- definitely throws people off. It's like a longer-range Chun-Li axe kick.Yeah her zoning is really impressive. Also that flip kick thing breaks armor, I noticed that in some local games today. Really nice way to get in. Her U1 is really easy to get off as well, works off of EX rekka and doesn't take too much of a damage hit from the scaling. Still not sure how best to use U2.
Also maybe it's just me but it seems PSN is especially poor with Ultra, worse than AE was. Sometimes it's basically like playing underwater.
The music in this game is so shitty. I want my $15 bitcoins back.
is this on steamYeah, but you need AE also just like with the console versions.

Personally, I'd wait to see if you can get AE cheaper and just buy the upgrade because AE has been like seven bucks or less before.
EDIT: AE is the only version on Steam and I think they upgraded everybody who just had Super due to GFWL.
EDIT2: Guess regular SFIV is still on there.
Haven't found a straight answer on this so I'm hoping someone here can help. Are the new character trials on the disc or is it the same ones from Super SF4?
Following the release of Ultra Street Fighter 4 in Japan today, Capcom has announced that an update patch that addresses a number of known bugs will be released tomorrow, August 8, for the PS3, X360 and arcade versions of the game.
This update is not a rebalance patch, but rather fixes some of unintended properties on a number of characters' moves. Most notably, with this update, Rolento's invisible wall jump and Poison's while-rising glitch will be removed.
So this isn't the rebalance patch they talked about during EVO. I wonder how many months we'll be waiting for that one.. fucking capcom.
The PC version is up! :D

Of course it's not. Why would you want them to rush that? The home version is only two months old and it was an update to the initial arcade release from April. Let people keep discovering more shit first.

cause i'm not happy with what they did to some of the characters i play. fuck figuring shit out, they need to stop being so scared of buffing
PC has some pretty bad issues online right now. They need to patch it ASAP.

With regards to the anomaly we've confirmed to exist in the August 8 updatehttp://www.eventhubs.com/news/2014/aug/11/capcom-replies-sudden-decapre-and-rolento-nerfs-ultra-street-fighter-4-states-they-are-unintentional/
The August 8 update (PS3/Xbox 360/PC/AC) for Ultra Street Fighter 4 contained changes to the characteristics for a few fighters that were unintended.
Rolento
EX Stinger (3 hit) -> Close standing MP would no longer connect.
Decapre
Psycho Sting and DCM's charge time were increased by 10 frames.
As the changes listed above would affect the balance of the game, we're currently looking into a fix for these issues. Once we have something new to report on the situation, we'll let you know on this blog.

I guess that's why I'm not feeling Dekappa. That or I suck with charge characters. Or both. :fbm
I just can't do her super or ultra at all. So I basically have just been spamming 6MP/HP and praying for the best against the AI. :lol :fbm

Maybe you're not holding back long enough? Try counting 1 one-thousand, 2 one-thousand then doing it.
This was a fun match.

Came back and beat this 5105 BP Ibuki player, only to get kicked after the match. Let the salt flow!
What's your inbox looking like? The only time people would message me on XBLA was when I played SF4. :heh
Nah, I can hold back. It's when it's 4(Hold)6(quickly)4(quickly)6(hold? dash? Longer black arrow)+PPP or KKK or just a P/K it throws me.
Anything that isn't HCF/QCF/B kills me. :fbm
:lol :lol :lolI think PSN peeps usually don't have the mic, so they're relegated to spamming type-ahead messages with a virtual keyboard.
Awesome! PSN people are so much more likely to send hate mail from what I've noticed.
So this Friday I'm having a drunken master bday tourney (gotta take a shot before each set) with edition select. Not sure who to play. I'll probably end up going Cammy just cause I wanna play a vanilla version of someone but I stink with Sagat.
I do miss the voice message hate mail from XBL.My least favorite MS design decision in years is having the Kinect microphone default to "on." Most players don't know, care, or notice enough that they're broadcasting their own game's audio back at everyone, plus their screaming kids or moms, or their crappy music. :maf
There's also an increase in tards with mics. I love letting them scream whatever for several minutes before I message them to tell them that I have the sound down and can't hear a word. :lol
New patch came out yesterday and it was supposed to make netplay better.
So, has anyone noticed any improvements? I sure haven't
Omega mode (and changes for the regular mode) patch is up.
And an infinite was already found. :lol

Do most people not care about fun and just care about padding their useless stats?
Because that doesn't sound like fun.

Then why do that?
Lyte, I'm talking about the stupid leg infinite and how Enl went online to have fun playing and his opponent just did the leg kicks all day.
If the battles are ranked why are people doing stupid shit like that infinite online to other players. I don't see how that could be more fun than normal playing.
PS3, 360 and PC :P i hop randomly between the three. although, i've been playing PC more often these days since i wanted to get my PC PP up to par with my console accounts
you can add me on steam: opunibeam
I hope PS3 sticks will work with this.
MadCatz have licensed sticks to sell. :lol Capcom isn't gonna support old sticks for shit.
But in a Facebook post Mad Catz community manager "MarkMan" said the company was behind the initiative.
"Lots of love to the Skullgirls team for making this happen!" he said. "I've already seen a few comments online where people mentioned that myself or Mad Catz are probably angry because we can't sell you a new $200 PS4 stick. This is so far from the truth. We are glad that you can continue to use your FightStick & hope more developers follow suit so that our products can become your weapons for more years to come. Happy gaming!"
The PlayStation 4 version of 2D fighting game Skullgirls Encore will support PlayStation 3 fight sticks, developer Lab Zero Games has revealed.
The studio created a custom USB driver that means any stick that reads as a generic USB gamepad or joystick will work with the PS4 version of the game - and it's making the driver available to other developers free of charge.
The Skullgirls people are the ones who made the driver, not Naughty Dog, that they've offered up as free for anyone to use, for using older controllers/sticks on PS4. It's even in the article you linked to.QuoteThe PlayStation 4 version of 2D fighting game Skullgirls Encore will support PlayStation 3 fight sticks, developer Lab Zero Games has revealed.

It's even in the article you linked to.
It seems Sony has given Lab Zero Games' work its blessing: the driver will be tested at an upcoming official PlayStation event in December. In fact Naughty Dog programmer John "Cowboy" Bellomy wrote the driver in his spare time.
So he made it...off the clock...for Lab Zero.
:heyman
In any case, you're better off modding an old stick or buying a new one. Setting up a PS3 stick is obnoxious with the driver since you still need a dualshock connected and always on, and the controller and stick share inputs.
They need to fix the menus and sound issues stat and this will be an overall great port
There is a ton of stuff fucked up besides visual/audio glitches.
port it to ps4 they said
it'll be the best version they saidFFXSF4
How do you mess up FFX's RNG systems when doing a port? :lol
Is the pc version all good?
USF4 PS4 patch 1.03 is now live. Significantly reduced input lag. Stay tuned for our results later today!
SF4 relied on the training mode's recording function for that sort of practice, which obviously necessitates outside research. The closest they came to the above was the challenge mode, but as the name suggests, that's more of an input olympics thing than it is proper training. Maybe they couldn't allocate any resources for that, who knows. Or they knew the community would pick up the slack, so they didn't bother.
USFIV is on, and I'm training Chun. I will get good with this girl. I tried Poison and she's fun but seems limited. Shame because I wish I could main her based on principle.

Skullgirls has an extremely good tutorial fwiw. I recommend checking it it out because a lot of it applies universally to 2D games.
Bye bye ps3 version :hyper

You might want to keep it around as a "backup" if there's not enough people or a bunch of shitty connections on PC. Happens every now and then.

The connections can't be worse than on ps3. :lol
How long since you last played?
Can PS4 fighters be played with a 360 arcade stick if the devs use specific firmware?
My favorite style of play is doing annoying shit and tactics to phase the person I'm playing.
Abel is fun but he's going to need a stick.
I want to get good with a charge character but we don't know how many charge characters will be in SFV so it may be pointless?

Nah.I want to get good with a charge character but we don't know how many charge characters will be in SFV so it may be pointless?
That's a weird reason not to keep practicing.
Abel without a stick? iirc he's got a few spd's.
Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. Either way, he's fun.
I'd do SPDs with Abel out of muscle memory habit and it wasn't a problem on the shitty 360 pad.
Problem with pad is that I need to learn how to play piano style, and I don't think pad is optimal for that. Maybe when I get my Hori pad I'll think differently.
Still wish this had been Abel.
Could have been a rival for Makoto.
I think vanilla SF4 had the weakest new character line-up of all of the games. Fuerte is...lol, Rufus looks fucking stupid, Abel is good but doesn't really stand out (however, I think he looks exactly like a character who could have fit into the 1991 SFII, which is kind of cool), and while I like C. Viper's design (totally SNK, perhaps something that the EX-SNK staff who worked on the game snuck in?), I don't like her play style. And then Seth is just dumb.
Snake-Eyes uses a MadCatz Fightpad.
Also, you forgot Hakan <3. I played him almost exclusively before I quit. The trailer with its stupid music is all it took.

Hakan offends my sensibilities. A guy who oils himself up. just stupid, doesn't fit Street Fighter and should be thrown to the bushes. Dude is straight Guilty Gear for me. Which is fine in GG.
Like, I'm fine with an turkish oil wrestler, but Hakan doesn't even look human.
I am very consistent when it comes to SF designs. I don't think SF designs should ever leave the venue of normal human people with fighting styles repping nations fighting each other. It's why I've never really liked Blanka. Everyone in SFII is normal. Stylized and anime-ish and having super powers, sure. But fairly normal and human. And then there's this green furball. :what I don't like Gill, Seth, or Hakan for similar reasons.
I'd do SPDs with Abel out of muscle memory habit and it wasn't a problem on the shitty 360 pad.
That's probably pretty easy since he doesn't have any SPDs. :P

I think vanilla SF4 had the weakest new character line-up of all of the games.
That's why I'm generally not a fan of SFIII. Sad, but true. None of the characters appeal to me besides Ryu, Elena, Makoto, and Alex. Just don't like SFIII despite being able to admit it's a fantastic game. :yeshrug

Beat a 1000 rank Juri earlier this morning. He didn't get a single win in. More than that, it was a Replay match and the replay was uploaded. Pretty good achievement, not that it matters.
Is the player skill level lower on Steam, because I'm winning way more on Steam than on PS3. Or am I getting better that much faster? I haven't lost a rank match in a while.
I'm now the in the 5000 rank for Poison on Steam. I want to get in the top 1000 ultimately.

Not trying to burst your bubble, but is that 1000 PP or 1000 BP? Because the BP points don't matter as much. 1000 PP is also kind of low but still, good on you for beating his ass.
