Anybody else playing? It's a WWII 15v 15 tank sim that will be coming out free to play- in a month or so.
-
Yeah we played it on PC a year ago.

I've played it ages ago, but got bored quickly. The grind looked pretty bad, but I could hold my own provided I wasn't getting sniped from across the map (which is quite difficult to do).
-
Thing is if you really play it you will get steamrolled by bigger tanks.
-
Is it pay to win? :-\
I've heard it has a nice competitive scene and is fun.
-
You don't have to PAY, if you put in a gazillion hours.
But you will be put up against bigger tanks that you really can't hurt every time you change a "bracket".
It's not a skill based game per se, if you have the right tank you can kill all newbs that don't pay without them scratching your paint.
you should try it out, as some fun can be had until you see this happening :)

There's not a league for low level/weak tanks or something?

Yes, well not in the beta but I expect that lower tier tanks won't have to face off against tier 7's.
-
Why do you think that?
The tiering works like that, that the top tank in your current tier will destroy you no matter what.
So you spend the entire tier grinding to be competitive, then enjoy 10 mins of owning, then move up a tier.
It's very obvious how this works.

^ sounds like Star Conflict and that shit War Thunder

I've been playing a fair amount of WoT 360, as well as WoT:Blitz on iOS.
I think the pay-to-win assessment is unfair, but it's possible I've played less than peeps who were in the Beta. I've got 7 hours or so under my belt, and it's clear that the game wants you to pay for a garage-full of tanks and upgrades, and Premium accounts and Gold currency... but it doesn't yet feel necessary to pay anything, and I'm winning about half the time.
As noted, it's a sniping game when played in most modes, though there are Tier 1~3 skirmishes which are light and medium tanks only. Tier 3~5 is where Heavy and Tank Killer units come into play, and those can be pretty impressive with good teamwork.
My main problem with the game is that I feel like I mostly know what I'm doing in-game, and am kicking 50% of available asses, but when I get back to my "Garage," it's all about the min/maxing and aspergers-inducing vehicle and account management. There are two kinds of currency, several different types of XP -- some of which can be fed into different pools, if paid in Gold, and others which are apparently untouchable, like Crew XP -- though you can make them replete with Gold as well.
All that crap is annoying and meh-inducing, but actually playing is pretty fun.

Version 1.7 is out (http://worldoftanksxbox360edition.com/en/news/announcements/update-1_7-overview/); lots of new ease-of-use features added, and some considerations added for new players.
- minimum load to play when updates are available
- COMBAT!-style minima for update screen
- filtering improvements for garage; user-selected multi-filters supported, e.g. Tier II, Med. Tanks, Daily 2X XP bonus
- Beginning players’ Tier I tank is pre-upgraded
- minimap can be local zoom or full map
- Ops (challenges) offered with related, increased difficulty tasks
- Radial Command additions and improvements for Tankers who eschew headsets
Full disclosure: Jeff in the Twitch video is one of my BFFs, and one of the community managers REALLY can’t play for shit.

Help! I am horribly addicted to this game! Everytime you die its just like "one more match, the next one will go better", and if you win you're like "that was awesome, let's do it again!"
Game is pretty legit and surpassed my expectations for a F2P title. Pay to win is probably incorrect, pay to speed up the grind is more accurate. But some tanks I have already have at Tier 3-4 are maxed out and I'm more than happy to throw them out onto the battlefield whenever just to play the game.
I am thinking of throwing a couple bucks at the game to get some more room on my roster and give my tanks a silly hat or whatever cosmetic bs they're selling

I would suggest if you're going to throw money on the game to do the following:
1) Elite tanks you do well with rather than buy premium tanks. Which are normally not that great (unless it's the panzer V/IV or the T-34-88). You can then use free XP to speed up dead duck tank packages in the grind...example being any russian tank's initial package past tier 5 and all artillery. But converting free XP does take gold so note it does cost money.
2) Don't follow lemming trains of tanks. Learn the best locations on the map. This is one game where a defensive mindset will net you more kills than an offensive one.
3) Don't grind more than 2 or 3 tanks at once. And trust me, without premium once you get into the level 7/8 range a bad game will start actually COSTING you silver.
4) Learn the weak spots on all tanks (I.E. the Cupola (driver's hatch) on an AT-2. You'll spend a LOT less money if you learn these. Also NEVER EVER shoot a T29 in the turret. Trust me :-(
5) Stay away from the dogshit chinese tanks.
oh yeah and
6) Nobody likes you when you're artillery.
-
They introduced Chinese tanks with the last update, and I'm finding all of the early ones are of course repeats of the American tanks. Are all Chinese tanks crap or just a later stage ones?

They are pretty much dogshit versions of the russian tanks (T34) until tier 8 then they can hold their own.

Update 2.2 is out for XBone.
Warning it's 25 gigs.
-
The new stuff was pretty big on 360 as well. I wonder about 25GB though; I mean, seriously, what the florida?
-
The beta for PS4 is done, and the final version is either out or due soon!
I'm away from my PS4 so I can't get in, but there is an exclusive Premium Tank for free if you log in before the end of the month.

2nd Anniversary weekend this week. Free Premium Time and special Ops are ongoing. I've got 7 days of Premium activated just in time to leave my bro-in-law's Xbox and head back to Idaho. :'(
