Whenever I try to download files now, the little download window freezes at 0% and I have to close the program or reboot my computer. It usually takes several tries before it finally works. What could be wrong?
-
have you run your virus scans and whatnot?
-
No. I run a firewall, though. Do you think it might be hijacked?

Well, it could just be a virus that slipped through and is fucking with your system. Run your virus scans first and see what happens.

you downloading torrents and if so are you on vista?
-
BAD RAM
-
Could be any number of things, is it downloads only?
-
Yeah, just downloads. Everything else runs fine. I'm going to defrag it tonight, and see if that helps. How would I check for bad RAM?
-
And yes, I have downloaded torrents, but not recently. I am running Windows media Xp.
-
dunno then, some vista releases caused network access to just freeze until reboot, its been fixed for a while tho

defrag
it's not ram, because it would affect other things.
if you can get it , run ccleaner ccleaner.com clean out the junk and clean up the registry as well.
something funky in one of those two areas could be the cause.
