himu's next nap reveal
-
Looks like Guild Wars 2. Not bad
-
Looks like an mmo. Too bad.
-
lol, the live stream has been one some due doing a sand sketch for like 15 minutes now.
anyway, all the main sites have something up
-
There are no levels in EQN, all of your progression will come from exploring the world, unlocking classes and experimenting with weapons and spells.
Happy to see they did this. GW2 was like this originally, but then play testers struggled to understand how to progress so they put levels in.

Very nice lighting.

It's F2P, which is great if they implement it correctly (aka cosmetic items only)
-
Yeah it's F2P. The EQN Landmark wil be part of the profits. I think people will be able to build items in Landmark and SOE sells it if they like it, and players get a cut. (Speculation at this point.)
-
The faction system sounds cool in theory.
Probably won't live up to the hype but eh.
-
So if you fail a call sequence...does it have an impact on the game? Like if you fail to stop that goblin siege, do they take over the town and turn it into a goblin fortress you have to infiltrate?
-
That big ass golem :leon
-
The fact that we've only seen two players on screen at a time kind of worries me.
-
It still has a long time to go before this hits launch, can't say I'm worried about the fps or anything else at this point.
-
Looks really nice. Main question right now is whether or not it's instanced and what the character on screen limit will be.
-
Not convinced we were seeing "combat" there so much as animations pieced together to look like combat.
Everything else looked lovely, but games have promised things in the past. We'll see.
I'm not sure why everyone's so stuck on "INSTANCED!" when they've made a point of talking about the limits of the destruction in the environment and how it heals over time.
-
Looked like combat to me. Obviously low AI, but things were interacting with mobs.
the instanced question is based on the fact we didn't see the massively part of the MMO
There's always a question of whether you will have too many sculptors chipping away at the same rock, all trying to model something different. There looks to be a limit to how much you can hurt the environment, but I do want to see the world in a massive state and how they deal with the problems of hundreds of players trying to mold the world at once.

Nearly every response in this thread is evidence of MMO players being half the problem with MMOs.
-
will check out when it inevitably hits PS4 maybe.

GAF has been pretty awful with regards to EQN today.

i have to admit this does fix a lot of core mmo issues.
-
Oh boy another great white MMO hype. MMO fans are almost as bad as Nintenyearolds when it comes to being the battered housewives of gaming.
-
Yeah, a lot of it is just hype. Bet there will be lots of complaining in the beta :teehee
-
Just got a beta application email right now. I guess it's because I played EQ2 for about five minutes. No way I can run Next on my laptop so I'm not gonna bother.
-
So they basically have you create the content? Worked for Minecraft, I guess.

Works for Valve games, too.
As long as people get paid, there will be top notch content.
-
I really wanted more realistic art. Oh well.
It all sounds good and Ill definitely check it out.
-
Yeah, she could stand to have greener skin and a pair of speech impeding tusks.

I never, ever get the demand for more representative art styles. It doesn't work in prerendered movies, by extension it works less well in games.
-
Realism doesn't age well. I do think something that looked like old school fantasy art would have done well with the game. Still stylized, but less dreamworksy.
I think one of the big reasons for the game's look is SOEmote. Highly emotive faces work better with the style they chose.
-
Maybe just a bit more mature then, this looks too much like a cartoon for me.
