PC Compatible? Next Year.

The Xbox One controller won't quite be ready for PC gamers. The 360 gamepad has been popular there, but due to the incompatibility of the Xbox One controller and the 360 one, plugging an Xbox One controller into a computer won't just work—not yet.

Alam didn't have any details to share on this, but a Microsoft spokesperson said, in an e-mailed statement, that there is some work that we need to do to make sure that existing PC games that support the Xbox 360 controller will work with the Xbox One controller. While it seems trivial, it’s actually quite a bit of dedicated work for all that to be seamless for the user. We know people want to use the Xbox One controller on their PC, and we do too - we expect to have the functionality available in 2014.".

backwards compatible with Xbox 360 controller supported PC games!

It's wired and wireless. When you plug in the wire, the wireless transmitter turns off.

I think it's $60 at retail.

yeah, $60.

Assuming that sometime in 2014 you can plug it in and use it as a PC controller; and sold separately, or through a bundle, a new wireless USB dongle for PC.

It will be listed here along with the drivers (or just via Windows Update) sometime next year.

yeah, everyone's saying the DS4 is legit.  people were happy about both back at E3, which is a first since like 2003 or whenever the xbox s-controller came out.   however microsoft controllers are better integrated into games, so it'll win out as the default pad for most people.  at the end of the day PC games will use ABXY etc. as button prompts.  Sega :rock

No, not really.  If you're content with the 360 pad, there's nothing dramatically different other than those rumble triggers that may or may not matter for PC games.  But it's the little things that make me want to upgrade, like losing the battery hump on the back.  And it's new!

Himu is the ds4 pc compatible?

It likely will.

Evidence: Sony owns Gakai and is trying to get it on as many viable platforms as possible, including pc. It makes sense to make official pc drivers as that helps them achieve their goals.

I've been needing a new 360 controller for my PC anyway, so I'll just hang on a little longer and then pick this up.

At work EVERYBODY has been grooving on the DS4. It is by far the best controller Sony has ever produced. If you're at PAX stop by our booth, we'll be running our game with them.

White and black, with colorful gumballs on top of it. It looks like a police car.

I tried one at PAX, it was okay...? The existing 360 pad is pretty much perfection so it doesn't feel any better, just different. I don't think the bumpers feel as good.

Oddly enough we got a bunch of donated controllers from MAD CATZ and the MLG Pro controllers are actually pretty incredible. You can swap in a PS3-style dpad, and sliding the analog pad around its extremities feels perfectly smooth (as opposed to the gritty feel of the 360 pad/dual shock). It really is the damnedest thing. I always thought third party pads were ass, but this one is super good. Then again, I think they retail for a hundred bucks or something.

Well, Markman helped with it and he turned Mad Catz controller department slightly around. The SF4 "Saturn" USB pads still suck, AFAIK but that's something that I think is out of his control in regards to the parts used there. But the arcade sticks and MLG controller, yeah: They're good from a majority of peoples impressions. But the MLG pad is wayyyy too expensive for the price (and possibly not being able to be used on the PS4, beyond...) compared to the Arcade Sticks.

And yeah, they're like $100-120 for just one.
