Suit & Tie is awful. My wife got the (first half) of the album and there's some winners on there, Mirrors is pretty great song, but on the whole JT disappointed if you ask me.

Thick's falsetto and singing don't really cut it, and I can't help but imagine Prince or Marvin Gaye singing that perfectly. Really highlights how few notable male singers there are these days in mainstream pop and R&B.

Sans the singing the production isn't that noteworthy. I dunno, I grew up on 70s funk. Most shit I hear today that people go hype over is just ass.

I like suit and tie up until the jay-z part where the entire flow of the song is thrown off so jay z can mumble a few lines really slow.

Love the sample but the chorus isn't noteworthy and Jay-Z's part is just stupid. It's just...so safe. Especially the way it slows down so as not to turn off too many of the 40 and older crowd.

copyright in music covers essence - perhaps musicians should learn this ? - and the whole argument that there are "no similarities" between Blurred Lines and Got to Give it Up is hilarious especially as the next defense is "they can't copyright a genre" which is a partial admit that there ARE similarities. And lets face it - i only heard the Blurred Lines track after i heard that it sounded like Got to Give it up and... yeah... come on Thicke, jesus.

edit : just read a few articles that state that copyright doesnt cover the "feel" or "sound" of a song - errrrrr......... it's not as simple as that.
