X Rebirth looks so amazing. It looks like they took an nearly incomprehensible simulation and found a way to make it immersive.

News on the XCOM : Enemy Within expansion pack tomorrow too, that is consoles + PC but come on we all know that's a PC game.

full blown Firaxis expansions are much more than the sum of their parts. I don't know why so many people wanted some kind of new campaign-the framework of gameplay in the original was fine, it just needed more degree of variation on how you get from point A to B to C.

There's like fourty new maps in single player or something. Existing maps will play out completely different due to the meld mechanic they are adding in. I hear the raining alley of death is getting reworked too!

I played XCOM like five times or something crazy because I enjoyed the unpredictable tactical combat and customization the game offered. Yes, there will still be some key research points to "advance" to the next stage in the game but that was just another mission with some unpredictablilty, outside of the temple at the end which is pretty fucking dumb but I don't hate the game for it.

Not a story game! This is not final fantasy XV. Even in Civ there are a lot of things you do the same every game and "unlock" key techs or buildings at roughly the same times. Not really too different from XCOM.

Vanilla XCOM is pretty great and it's a game you can play multiple times so you can always replay it when the expansion is 75% off on Steam.

Wait for expansion, imo. The expansion is fleshing out the main game, it's not separate content. You'll get a more complete experience with more stuff to do/play around with.

I tried it once and lost so bad that I almost rage quit. A few of my friends just picked up the game so I might try playing against them once they're done with the campaign.
