It's a shame Blizzard's games rarely go on sale. I would have bought it at 50% off.

You probably don't even know what demonic essences and the new crafting plans are, so I don't know why I continue to listen to/take seriously the complaints of people who stopped paying attention to this game like a year ago.

Didn't expect that, wow. Everybody is going to pump it into their main-stat, but still... Oh, never mind, there's more to put them into.  :leon

Is it retroactive for P-levels you've already gained?

Looks like there was an option to reset points, so probably, yeah.  More info will be forthcoming at Blizzcon I assume.  Josh, Travis and Wyatt will probably also be doing interviews in the next couple of days, I'll be interested to see what comes out of that.

I came in here to lower my Dockers and take a hearty shite on a transparent, rushed expansion  :shaq

....but this sounds good :ohhh

Can't wait for Kripp's reaction. I will say that the "loot runs" sound like they could be good or bad. It could be a half assed take on Path of Exile's map system, or it could be legit awesome. Hopefully they just rip off the entire thing, it's such an awesome idea.

I knew PD was gonna be excited, just because of the Crusader.  I has a shield, so I must be able to tank! Squeeeeeee!

Too bad a CM wizard is always gonna be the best tank/crowd control in the game. :shaq

You know me too well  :aah

Major question: can you add points to your stats at any level, or is it only applied at lv70 once you start adding paragon levels? My absolute biggest problem with D3 is the inability to create what the fuck I want by allocating stats. I like WoW but I didn't enjoy stats working the same way - ie stat vitality/stamina, strength (or whatever your main stat is), and pray you find resist gear. Give me the ability to select what stats I want - some builds will work, some won't, but let gamers figure that out.

We're not sure yet.  Apparently all your paragon levels on all of your characters will carry over to the expansion, and you'll then be able to allocate EVERYTHING TO ONE CHARACTER IF YOU WANT.  Maybe.  So, some people are suggesting that since paragon levels 1-50 come much easier than 51-100, level as many characters as you can to 50 to maximize your payoff once RoS drops.

Who knows how it's going to work though.

Also, apparently all of the system/gameplay changes will be available for free via patch for people who don't buy the expansion.  Expansion is apparently just Crusader and Act V.  Maybe items?  Dunno, still early but exciting shit, unless you're Damian, but who takes ninthings seriously?

Good news...but at the same time, I'd prefer to move in a direction where any character can use any item (as long as they meet the stat requirement), ala PoE or D2. If I want to build a Barbarian with a wand I should be able to. Bah.

Also good to hear that you'll be able to tinker with white items and make them useful.

PD, a blue post from the forums:

Quote
The Crusader class is kind of like a walking tank, and they use Strength as their primary attribute. I think that really fits the Crusader concept, who is a zealous holy warrior wrapped in heavy armor, and wields punishing weapons (like a flail) with a massive tower shield. A lot of your Barbarian gear will be a good fit for them.

Goinio isn't a Crusader-y name, tho. :wag

I'm hoping they'll support a no AH, Ironborn mode, but since they didn't mention it I doubt they will.  Making stuff BoA is probably their solution, I guess.

We want to implement a lot of the new systems and features in a pre-expansion patch for free. That should include Paragon 2.0, Loot 2.0, Loot Runs, and Nephalem Trials. For now, you'll need to purchase the expansion to play as the Crusader, explore Act V, unlock the Mystic, and level up to 70. These details may change as development moves along, but we want some of the core gameplay improvements to be available for everyone.

So, we could get gameplay improvements BEFORE the expansion. :rock

That sounds like they are leaving the door open to not charge for the expansion, but only in a "we're considering it" sort of manner.

GUESS NOT

I read that as them considering the content as a patch, rather than them considering not even the gameplay changes being in a patch w/o expansion.

That's how it usually works with WOW too, people that don't buy the upgrade get all the reworked systems too. I'm pretty sure it will like this now too.

Good news as you can try out if you like the changes... As if we are all not buying this anyway

Sounds pretty cautious, which I think is warranted at this stage. It does seem like they're heading in the right direction though. Ultimately Kripp is like me in the sense that he's super into hardcore customization and stats, and I doubt D3 will ever go completely in that direction. But if the expansion at least gives me the chance to choose stats I want to increase, outside of using gems/gear, I'll at least be happy.

One of the devs said something about guaranteed legendary drops the first time you beat a boss towards the end of this vid.  :gladbron

More info in this Athene interview (interview is over about 4 minutes in and then it's just him rambling)

-Nephalem Trials are random portals that will trigger events where you basically try to kill as many monsters in a given time frame as possible.  How well you do will get you a variable number of Resplendent Chests.
-No other character in this expansion
-No update on pvp, but there will be additional announcements at Blizzcon (release date maybe?)

shhhh, Triumph doesn't know about that  :phil

I don't want specific loot guarantees. Just give me good loot as I play through the game, and let me change the stats on items. Sounds like they're doing both, now we wait and see if it works.
