I can use MS cards for my Windows 8/Phone 8 so it's OK.

Er... I dont get it. Official dash update is out? Cause I've been in "beta" for a while yet.

You can still use point cards, it just gets converted.

I've somehow been stuck with an unusable 39 points for years. MS finally rounded it up to $1.

Avatars and possibly cheap DLC like it. Otherwise, no.

If I buy a $5 game, can I just add $4, or are they still forcing you to overspend?

I think the credit card charge is still $5, so no you can't throw $4 with that dollar. But add an item to your cart and look at the totals before confirming purchase?

(Or be on the safe side and buy a $10 game. That'd throw your $1 in with the $9 from your card)

Yes, you can split purchases now.

FOR EXAMPLE

If you have $2

You want to buy a new shiny game that costs $10

If you try to buy it WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD, you will get a prompt asking if you want to use your $2, and pay the rest with the card.
