i heard they were making a cylinder now

I liked mac until I realized I was paying for overpriced outdated hardware I could never upgrade at premium prices, on a platform with less support where I'd end up emulating windows anyways.
-
I used Macs for years and still like 'em, next lappy will probably be a Macbook in some form. iOS can suck it with their closed ecosystem though. Oscar was upset because this thread was apparently crashing all iOS browsers as they are based on mobile Safari. You can blame Apple for that.

Macs are good for personal use that doesn't go beyond e-mails and school projects. Too damn expensive for that though, mostly cause Apple is more of a fashion statement now.
If all you're doing is e-mail and wordprocessing, they can last a while. You don't need to OS update every-year to the newest OS X cat/flavor. Only thing you have to worry about is security updates but they were pretty good with updating 10.3 and 10.4 PPC even after the intel switch until I stopped using my Mac and got a gaming PC.

I've had my macbook pro since 08/09 or whatevs and it still runs nicely.
It gets heated as fukk tho. idlin on 75~C so I suspect it will blow up soon.

08-09 unibody? The one with a replaceable battery or not? You need a PH0 screwdriver. It's like 8 very obvious screws, then you can take the bottomcase off. Could be fastened on two clips but will release with some light force, preferably from one side at a time. If it's the one without a battery hatch, unhook the battery cable from the main logic board before doing anything else.
-
for mac opening instructions, check ifixit
You can get PH0's at home depot, btw. tri-wings are harder to find outside amazon/ebay. You only need the PH0's to open the bottom of the machine iirc.

Xcode and I don't need to install Latex :bow2

Yeah, I'll say that about Macs- they last nicely for basic stuff. My 2008 MacBook is still going strong -only had to replace the battery- and does everything my wife needs it to, although that is just basic web-browsing and streaming video crap. Plus she can click all over the place without getting viruses.

http://www.apple.com/30-years/1-24-14-film/
Neat little film, celebrating Mac's 30th anniversary, shot entirely on iPhone 5S in one day, directed by Ridley Scott's son (RS was the director of the famous 1984 Mac commercial).
