Agreed.

That scene when McNulty was caught banging those eastern european sex slaves in season 2 :rejoice
I don't know if any afterschool specials had that but if they did, let me know which ones :phil

I'd love to have a cartoon rendition of the "fuck" scene.
-
I keep rewatching Deadwood. God I love that show.
-
Honestly i dont even like The Wire that much, its obviously a great show objectively but i never am like "whooo! why dont I fire up some of The Wire now!"
That's because it's long and serious and can be depressing. That doesn't take away from its quality.
I've only seen it twice and I still think it's the best tv show I've seen.
-
I can only marathon The Wire. I can't watch a single episode or two at a time. It's one of those shows that are just made for a boring weekend.
-
shakas response in that thread :snoop :ufup
we need to have some words, breh

the wire is a good time. not the flawless paradigm for socially conscious entertainment it's made out to be, but a a good time nonetheless. my main issue is that david simon brings the whole thing in at an angle harder than a JU-87 which can make it difficult to stomach at times. he's also terrible at masking his own voice in his characters, which works for something super stylised like deadwood but undermines any attempt a natural tone.
but yeah, it's a great ride. if you're prone to a critical disposition, it's one of those shows where the less you read about it, the more you'll enjoy it.

It's not really watchable in spots. I pretty much have to watch it all in one go, like a novel. I don't think theres anything wrong with that, but watching TNG and 30 Rock recently made me kinda miss the ease of watching of episodic 90s television. Jump in, jump out, no commitment, it's all good!
edit: I have never seen Deadwood :snoop
I'm still mad that shit was cancelled. Still. Fuck that show rules.

I loved it, for what it's worth. But Momo doesn't like gang stuff, so...
-
I think people are more aware of after school specials as a reference point for comparison than they are with actual after school specials.
Checking wikipedia, ABC kept making them into the mid-late 90's, but I never saw any (except maybe one that was shown in health class about anorexia?). How many folks here actually watched these things?
-
I didn't watch very many after school specials.
Now, Very Special Episodes of Blossom? ALL OF THEM.
-
The Wire is the greatest show, and while I can't just watch random episodes...the same applies to most great dramas. I can fire up a random episode of Always Sunny for instance, or even Arrested Development. But does anyone sit down and say "time to watch a random ep of Mad Men!" Even if I was scrolling through channels and noticed a random episode of Mad Men/Breaking Bad/The Shield/etc was on I probably wouldn't watch it. I like experiencing dramas as a whole, ie the entire season.
-
My experience with The Wire (watching the entire series over two weeks after it had ended) is why I haven't bothered to watch a single episode of Breaking Bad yet. I will marathon that shit when I can know for sure I will be able to be done with it in a limited span of time.
-
Now Always Sunny, that is a terrible terrible show.
And here I thought we were just having some fun. :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf :maf

Let's be real. Sunny has sucked since season 5.
-
I think I called Always Sunny the Dane Cook Variety Hour.

I'm still so mad. The pain has never dulled. Such a rich show in terms of set design, performances and plotting.
