Okay, fine, so a dozen people got killed this morning, but do we have to keep dragging it up again and again, hours later?? Why doesn't the media ever cover stories about the responsible gun owners that save 12 people during a mass saving spree, huh?
i thought about starting this thread because i grew up near the area but all of our mass shooting threads turn into "hey let's talk about the guns we own or want to buy" threads
Can't wait to get a Colt Python next year :drool
Is that a problem for you?
Moreover, our investigation made clear that so-called "good guys with guns" do not stop public shooting rampages. Likewise, Blair's data couldn't be any clearer when it comes to the National Rifle Association's favorite myth: He found just 3 cases out of 84 in which an armed individual who had been on the scene used a firearm to stop the shooter. And none of the three were ordinary citizens. According to Blair, in two instances those who intervened were off-duty police officers: one in a case in upstate New York in 2010, and another in a case in Philadelphia in 2005. The third case took place in Winnemucca, Nevada, in 2008; the man there who intervened and shot the rampaging gunman, as I've reported previously, was a US Marine.
He's dead right? Just making sure it's safe for me to wear a Polo as I take my garbage out tonight. Wouldn't want to get shot by the cops.

Guys, it's important not to offend anyone in post-shooting discussions. Here's a helpful list of guidelines to follow.

New Hampshire Senate Candidate: More Women In The Workplace Led To More Mass Shootings
WASHINGTON — Former New Hampshire state Sen. Jim Rubens is jumping into the race to defeat Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen Wednesday. Before he even reaches the starting blocks, Democrats are questioning his ability to reach women voters.
The reason? A 2009 post on his website that connects the rise of working women with what he says is a rise in mass shootings and other violence perpetrated by men.
“The collaborative, flexible, amorphously-hierarchical American economy is shutting out ordinary men who were once the nation’s breadwinners in living-wage labor and manufacturing jobs,” Rubens wrote. “Because status success is more vital to the male psychology, males are falling over the edge in increasing numbers.”
A “collaborative” and “flexible” economy is one that has opened the door to more women working, Rubens wrote. And the nature of the changing economy has had a detrimental effect on men, including an increase in violence.
“The collapsing number of male jobs in the increasingly female-centric economy just adds to the already harsher impact of OverSuccess on males,” he wrote, referring to the title of his 2008 book.
Thirteen people, including a 3-year-old boy who suffered a gunshot wound to the head, were shot at a Chicago park in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Thursday night, authorities said.
Ten adults and the 3-year-old were transported by Fire Department ambulances after the attack in the 1800 block of West 51st Street in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, said Fire Department Deputy District Chief James Mungovan at the scene. A 12th victim was believed to have driven himself to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, a source said, citing preliminary information.
Police said later a total of 13 people were shot, the boy, two teens, and 10 adults, with the boy the most seriously wounded. The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the head at an ear that exited through his mouth, and was in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
The attack took place about 10:15 p.m. and fire officials called an Emergency Medical Services Plan II, sending at least 10 ambulances to the scene.
Chicago police were making no information about what happened public, except to say that the shooting appeared to be gang-related. The shootings took place on a basketball court on the 51st Street side of Cornell Square Park near Wood Street.
Members of a Washington DC Swat team who the BBC has learned were ordered not to respond to Monday's Navy Yard shootings have yet to be contacted by the authorities.
The Capitol Police tactical response team was told by a supervisor to leave the scene instead of aiding municipal officers, sources told the BBC.
Meanwhile, the department has installed a new leader of the elite unit. No reason has been given for the decision.
Gunman Aaron Alexis killed 12 people.
The BBC has also learned that four members of the highly trained team have applied for temporary leave, as they "grapple" with the aftermath of the incident.
The Capitol Police department has not yet granted the request, nor given approval for them to use their own paid time off.
http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local/chicago_news&id=9255232This touches on something that bugs me. Lots of gun owners are lousy shots. I can't count how many gun owners I know that took their gun to the range once when they first got it and haven't touched it since. And even CHL standards are ridiculously easy. You have to have parkinsons and be half blind not to pass the range test in Texas.
chicago doesn't count though. sounds like the dude was a lousy shot, too.

The thing is, there hasn't been any legislation put forward to take away a single gun.
The thing is, there hasn't been any legislation put forward to take away a single gun.Devious, isn't it?
Obama signed a law to let people carry guns at national parks. That's like the only major thing he has done on guns unless you count the moderate executive actions for shit most people agree with. When I was 5 we were robbed at a national park and my Michael Jackson Dangerous cd was stolen. I wish my dad had the right to carry back then.

So I have to read an entire book before I can reply to your post? :what
