Who?
-
Sorry I watched the superior uncensored latino version :smug
Milk = Chi-chi
-
Milk is a good name. :leon
-
I thought Chi-Chi was a latino name :yeshrug
-
It is, I guess it was Funanimation's way to attract the american born mexicanos.
-
Chi-Chi's name is based on the word "Milk" in Japanese:[12] Chi-Chi (乳) is a term for "milk" or "udder" in Japanese, and Chi-Chi (父) is also a term for "father" in Japanese.
Did they translate Gohan's name to rice and Pan to bread in the Spanish version?
-
No translation necessary on "Pan". It's a loan from Portuguese, but the word and meaning are the same in Spanish.
-
If they were gonna go by that, her name should have been "Udders" or "Tits," not "Milk." :P
-
Yeah that's not the Japanese word for milk, no? Most of the milk stuff I read when I practice is in katakana.

ぎゅうにゅう (gyuunyuu) is cow's milk, but I don't see it used much. The katakanization is in full swing.

That actually does get used a lot (some brands just say "Gyuunyuu"), but yes, people also just say miruku. I always read that the DBZ character's name was supposed to be a joke on "tits," even before studying Japanese. That goes with "Bulma," which is "buruma" = bloomers, AKA a type of underwear. Hence her kids' names "Trunks" and "Bra."
It's funny how so much of Dragonball is just stupid jokes, yet it gets all serious. :lol
Anyway, you're not an EXPERT if you're not using the Japanese names, jeez.

chichi tricks goku into marrying her ::)
otoh, goku gets chichi pregnant, dies, and kicks it with pikkon and olibu in the afterlife instead of raising his sons.

Is that onomatopoeia for squeezing teats? :lol

I'm gonna name my daughter "Milk". Hope she earns it!

Chi Chi trying to get Gohan to study all of the time. Dad letting him fight. Chi Chi mad.

I mean, the first wish ever used after capturing the dragonballs was for a woman's panties. DBZ got all serious, but they still had the underlying humor base intact.
Nothing can top Dr. Slump in terms of juvenile humor, though.

I will never forget that Bulma panty incident parts 1 and 2 in Dragonball :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

If you live long enough, good things do happen!

This would be like allegedly grown men were, say, trying to seriously treat a cartoon about girl ponies as something more than a children's program.
WAIT SHIT

"Chichi" is a commonly used kids' word for milk. When a parent asks a baby if they want milk, they ask "Chichi nomu?"
