You've already fucked up by getting the ps3 version and not the pc version. Sorry, Borys. But the console version is completely different from the pc version. Talking about DAO of course, never played DA2 because I smell poop a mile away.

^^^^^
I played DA:O on the 360 first and it was ok; I later got it on pc and the pc version shits all over the console version.
DA2 is the most disappointing game of the past gen. It's a festering pile of shit.
-
Brand new. $6 for DA, $9 for DA2 (both PS3 versions). Based :bow Carrefour :bow2
1) Any essential DLCs for those games? (story DLCs - don't care a bit for Armours, Characters etc.)
2) How close to Baldur's Gate those games really are? Are they more hack & slash like Dark Alliance(PS2) or Amalur for example?
3) How long? I'm guessing 100 hrs for DA and 50 hrs for DA2?
1. Get the Ultimate Version that includes Awakening and DAO + All the DLC
2. DA1 is classic-like, DA2 is slash-like
3. No

Dragon Age was made for PC and shoehorned onto consoles. Dragon Age 2 was the other way around.
-
Isn't it the same game (PC vs PS360) only the battle camera is different? Anyway I will manage, thanks. Can you guys answer the q's above, please.
The console versions of DAO if I remember correctly are more action-y, and they are missing the tactical combat and shit.
-
Not really. You can pause, assign tactics and attacks all the same.

Well then I guess I misremembered.
-
Should have gotten the PC version of DAO, and not gotten DA2 at all.
-
Ok. So why comment about console version if you haven't played it?
edit - this nicca edited his post. dont be scurred.

Hey dumbass notice I said IIRC, and yes I did play the console version it has been a few years.
-
I don't think you can zoom out to Infinity Engine levels on the console, but otherwise it's basically the same. Pause, issue commands (which is a radial on the console, so have fun with that), un-pause, repeat. Positioning is going to be a pain, but I believe the console version has less enemies overall and some encounters were redesigned/made easier to compensate for the gimped controls and perspective. 100 hours with all the DLC maybe. And if you re-load saves to see how some decisions can play out.
Origins DLC:
Stone Prisoner is essential because it adds Shale (the Golem).
Warden's Keep is good for the stash and the mission is OK. You also get some abilities from it, but I don't remember using them all that much.
Ostagar is short and kinda crap. Only get it if you find yourself caring about the story, but I wouldn't bother either way.
Awakening is an Expansion and is necessary. Without it, you can't fully appreciate how Anders' character was absolutely butchered in DA2. But it's also pretty much more DA:O, so if you find yourself liking it... Don't expect the plot to matter though.
Darkspawn Chronicles is shit, don't bother.
Leliana's Song is OK, but I found her irritating. Flip a coin.
Golems of Amgarrak expands Shale's story a bit. If you're going to get Stone Prisoner (which you should), get this as well.
With Hunt is OK. Shit ending though.
Dragon Age 2 might as well have been an ARPG. There's a boss fight at the end of Act 1 and one optional fight that requires you to use your brain, otherwise it's very easy. If you up the difficulty the hordes of enemies and reinforcements will be even more irritating, so you're fucked either way.
Aveline, Varric and Act 2 (the Qunari Arc) are the highlight and it might be worth playing for that at least, but it's otherwise crap that destroys the few good ideas it had with comic book/anime bullshit and doesn't meaningfully improve on DA:O. It is likely the better console experience, but I don't think it will matter much in the end. Play a mage for an especially :wtf experience. It's much shorter than DA:O despite their very obvious attempts to stretch the play-time.
DA2 DLC:
The Exiled Prince adds a character. He's a boring, "lawful good" archer that adds nothing to the story. Not that I can recall, anyway.
Black Emporium. Trinkets and don't remember what else. Respec? Re-doing your face? Not sure.
Dunno about the others because I didn't play them.
Have fun, I guess?

This pretty sums up all there is to say
-
I don't game on the PC, dingbat.
Dirtperson confirmed

A 5 minute blowjob followed by a finger up the arse.
-
a mediocre rpg and a shitty rpg
-
Where were when EA fucked up and gave everyone DA:O for free through Origin?
That's how I played it. It was okay, not great. Combat was fine, the story was just standard WRPG pap.
I didn't even bother playing the sequel because everyone said it sucked.
-

You mean when they gave out the $20 off coupon that had no minimum purchase requirement and could be used multiple times, making every game that was less than $20 free? Yeah, that's pretty awesome.
-

Pffffffft, it's not that good.
-
I really got duped on Dragon Age 1. A lot of hype about how it was a return to form for Bioware (that should have been the sign right there that the claim was bullshit). What a disappointment. Never bothered with the second one.
-
If you didn't even like DA1, there's really no reason to even consider playing DA2.
-
you can expect tedium and idiocy, for the most part. going into DAO hoping for BG quality was a huge letdown. it wasn't even kotor quality.
I dont really like KOTOR. DAO is my favorite 3d Bioware title. Of course they really only have three good 3d titles (DAO, ME1 and 2). That number could be four but I haven't played ME3.
-
I liked DAO, especially after I installed a mod that upped the combat difficulty. Wasn't as good as BG2, but I wasn't expecting that anyway.
DA2 is awful. No birds eye view and horribly designed encounter system. So help me god if I hear "another wave!" in my lifetime.
-
God, fuck that game so much. I still remember one of the gameplay videos from the lead designer where he tried to dupe people into thinking that it was going to be a hell of a lot more tactical than it turned out to be. Of course the video ends as soon as the first group of enemies is dead.
Found it. Son of a bitch.

You will be buying DA3 then? Bio says it will be more like DA1 rather than DA2.
Also I need to find ME2 & ME3 for cheap in Tesco/ real/ Carrefour.
I've pretty much written Bioware off. If enough people whose taste I trust give me positive feedback on DA3 I would consider picking it up later on the cheap.
-
Yeah I am not buying another Bioware game after I get ME trilogy for ps3. Especially with the founders quitting the company. I maintain BG2 was the only AAA game they ever made, my opinion. I feel they are the most overrated company in the industry. They made my favorite western RPG of all time. And then poof. BG1 is okay, Kotor sucked, Jade Empire sucked, Mass Effect half sucked, DAO was really great and my favorite game that year, Mass Effect 2 was great but not an RPG in any way, then there's that Sonic game. Their track record is awful and inconsistent.
-
I've enjoyed most of Bioware's games to one degree or another, but I'm not putting much faith in DA3.
-
I'm not a big fan of Bioware, but unless they mess it up completely I'll be playing Mass Effect 4 day one.
-
does poland have a 500W per-home power ration or something?
-
mages are ezmode
-
I played Thief or whatever in both games.
