Underrail is heavily inspired by classic Fallout [as in, the first two] and it shows in every aspect of the game. You've got the isometric, 2D backgrounds, turn-based tile combat, the crumbling scifi setting, character creation, and so on. Right now it's still in Early Access Beta on Steam [and other services not worth mentioning], but it's perfectly playable in its current state and well worth the asking price of $10.

Looks like what happens if the IOS7 designers tried to make Fallout.

It's actually pretty good, except for having a UI which feels too small.

I kept getting killed by this crazy guy and his two pet giant rats, so I went back to down and got a grenade. BOOM! Now, all your loots are mine.

The full release is out now. I really can't recommend this game enough, I played it about 4 hours more than two years ago and it was a pretty great game even then.

Just finished up with that first rail crossing quest and headed south to find the quest npcs. Now I'm utterly lost somewhere in this vast network of tunnels and it owns.

I must have cut through a small town's worth of gang bangers, crawlers and cannibals but I still can't find these fucking merchants. :'(

Despite being a game consisting of underground tunnels and caves, it still manages to feel huge, almost to the point where it's overwhelming.

I ended up putting off playing this again for a lot longer than I intended, but I'm back now and have already gotten farther than I did during the Early Access days. Decided to focus my character towards psy powers and it feels mighty good blowing peoples' minds [literally]. Feels like it's settled into a good difficulty level finally, I can take out most enemies on the main path but still have to employ some strategy to avoid death.
