My friend just gave me Demon.

I prefer Demon's Souls in general. You can jump between five different world through the central hub which is nice [strike]if[/strike] when you get stuck.
-
Either - they play the same.
-
Depends on what you're looking for.
Demon's is level based with a hub world you can go to buy items, level up, etc.
Dark is "open world" based and you can explore around and do things in any order.
-
The latter sounds more interesting, but maybe the former is easier to get into for the first time?
Not sure when I will have time to try it.
-
I think Dark Souls is the more accessible game. Granted, I played Demon's Souls first and imported it, but parts of Demon's structure are obtuse. Progressing in Dark Souls feels more natural.
-
I also found Dark Souls more accessible. Though still retained enough challenge to be satisfying.
-
I think Dark Souls is more accessible. It has better production values and is more polished as well as lacking a lot of bullshit that Demon's throws at the player.

ruh roh

Just play either. Know the game is going to fuck you harder than your wife did.

you can still have a lot of fun with Demon's, though. I suggest rolling a sorcerer so you have access to a powerful spell from the start, and if you're interested in melee you can build your character towards a melee weapon that scales damage based on your magic stats. A lot of people apparently have trouble with a boss called the Flamelurker in that game, and I was able to defeat it on my first try with a sorcerer. I didn't even use a healing item :lol
The Souls games really aren't that hard, they just don't explicitly tell you the many ways you can make it easier for yourself. But you will die a lot. Neither game is afraid to kill the player in ways that make you feel really dumb.

Temple Knight, Wanderer, or Royal?
-
Demon has lots of repetitive, tedious BS
I've only played Dark a little but it seems better in that regard
-
Royal.
-
My friend just gave me Demon.
Then play Demon's.
I'll be the minority and say play that one first anyway. "Accessible" or not, that's the first in the "series" if you ignore Kings Field and therefore the logical one to go first if you play by series release.
(Plus, I don't like the nerfed Magic of Dark Souls so...)
-
It's probably better that you're going from Demon's to Dark, because I don't think going the other way is nearly as enjoyable.
-
I dunno. Going from magic charges to MP would be an upgrade IMO. Only huge loss is Poise, but I don't really like that system.

this thread gave me the sudden urge to play Dark Souls again so i loaded up a new character for which i'm maxing dex with the Uchigatana.
