I'll probably pick up FFX HD.  Never playing any of the shitty XIII games.  X had some ok game systems in place, and it's been forever since I played it.

Day 1 for both.

Lightning Returns actually looks like a really good game. A real return to form and FFX is the best FF. Plus that cover looks great.

Hey I'm not seeing anything there to complain about.

Either way I'm not too concerned with the story, it's already too late. The fanservice was un-needed, but whatever. Really though, the gameplay looks really good and it sounds like they finaly got the world right. Plus I didn't  dislike XIII, just XIII-2.

The environment look fine if just a little too clean and bland, but going by that map they are pretty big. Plus this is only one continent.

Though some of the textures in that city could be better. Still, the game doesn't look like it's running like crap in those early trailers.

I hope this is true.  The environment looks like like absolute trash.  Almost ps2 levels.  I cant speak for the gameplay so i hope it is good.  I hope there is more than one character to play with at a time though.

LR is only one character control, but with AI partners like Fang and Sazh.

I'm listening to the full soundtrack and, like XIII and XIII-2 before it, it's fucking awesome. Even more eclectic this time in terms of genre experimentation. Gotta love the stunning array of live instruments they're using. The percussion omfg

XIII-2 from what I've played (about half of it) is pretty, fun and goofy.

Just it's also mindless, shallow and nonsensical.


It's at least enjoyable enough and easy enough that I might as well finish it so I can get the FULL FFXIII FINALE EXPERIENCE lol


Plus there's always a (good) chance that LR is even worse, so it doesn't make sense to skip the (possibly) better game.

I don't remember my problems with the game that well.

I dislike monster party mechanics in rpgs so that's a problem, but I remember them being very tedious to level so I disliked them more.

I remember thinking the battle system even with all it's fixes was too easy. Say what you will, but what made XIII exciting was constantly having to switch between setups all while trying to kill enemies as fast as possible because it seemed like battles could change at a moment's notice. In 2, none of that is there at all because of brainless battles are.

The story was really nonsensical even for this series.

I didn't think the levels were that great. I dislike un-connected rpgs and so the "world" just felt like whatever, "here's some crap in a random assortment".

I just didn't like the game. Plus Serah is just so bland. She has no character and so I'm spending the game with half a party that sucks.

- Monster leveling being tedious is a null complaint, replace the weak monsters with better ones. You use items to level the monsters and theres tons of them. They drop like candy after every fight.

- If the game is so easy why do you give a shit about leveling

- The story was so ludicrous it was good

- Levels were gorgeous and well realised

I liked 13-2 way more than the original. The story was nonsense and the game was (apart from a few of the final battles and optional bosses) too easy but whatevs. Not really too hyped for Lightning Returns though for whatever reason. Who am I kidding, I'm still gonna get it.

Ignoring the fetish junk, the visual aesthetic for this game looks like some hot web design team from the late 90s were pulled out of time into 2013 and given access to new(-ish) tech.  I'm not even complaining, really

I mean it's basically just the job system and dress sphere thing again only this time with clothing customization that seems popular in Japanese games from Tekken to Resonance of Fate.

Time stopped. No one "died". Everyone's caught in stasis, and as of 13-3, people have lived for 500 years unchanged. People die and there is no way to bring any new people into the world.

God I am consistently impressed with this soundtrack. And surprised at how jazzy it is! So much horn usage, as well as lots of tribal drums. Percussion has always been Hamauzu's strong suit outside of violins and I'm glad that even though this game is a hot mess that the soundtrack is brilliant.

"Ouroboros Festival" is such a dope track.
