Title: And with the first pick of the Thanksgiving Dish Draft...
Post by: Phoenix Dark on November 27, 2013, 01:27:18 PM
Three votes per person.

1. Stuffing/dressing
2. Mac n cheese
3. Mashed potatoes

That's the classic three brehs, my draft can't be fucked with
:rejoice

Mashed taters and gravy, for sure. Thanksgiving dinner would be so boring and dry without it. I didn't know mac n' cheese was a thing for other people, that would be my runner up. Potatoes and cheese.  :mouf

Stuffing.  Also anyone who doesn't have deviled eggs for Thanksgiving is a bad person.

stuffing and mashed potatoes are tried at #1

good stuffing >>> any mashed potatoes > so-so stuffing

Turkey
Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes and gravy.

Same here.

Also, the same gravy that goes on the mashed potatoes also goes on the turkey and the stuffing. That's just the way it is.

I've had deviled eggs once on Thanksgiving. My family just doesn't make them much. Actually I've had it more times on Easter (like 2-3 times) than Thanksgiving.

Ham, because you really have to go out of your way to fuck up a ham.

Green Bean Casserole was a close second.

Fuck it I LIKE TURKEY!

Give me a side of that stuffing and that mashed potatoes and I'm good. None of that boxed shit though, I hate lazy cooks.

Dan Gilbert would pick a Jell-o casserole/mold.

Because that's the closest Thanksgiving dish equivalent to Anthony Bennett.

Gonna have to side with PD here. Mac+Stuffing+Potaoes is the best starchy goodness. Green bean casserole is some business too, but I haven't had it since I left Ohio. The whites love that shit.

Any dish that involves opening one can and dumping it into a pot is not a valid choice.

what kind of seafood is it (http://i.minus.com/jl5OIgfYbbZq0.png)

You've never had day-after Thanksgiving gumbo? Also I've had fried fish on Thanksgiving before due to half ass vegetarians attending dinner.

I chose sweet potatoes, turkey and deviled eggs because I'm an American man of Christ, tastefulness and tradition.

I've posted this recipe before, I think, but I'll post it here again:

THE BEST DEVILED EGGS YOU WILL EVER CRAM INTO YOUR HOLE

1 dozen hard-boiled eggs. Cut them in half, put the yolks into a bowl. Mash up the yolks into a fine crumble.

then mix in:

Mayonnaise (use your own judgement, it's just a binder)
1 tablespoon brown mustard
1 splash (around a tablespoon or so) of vinegar
1-2 tablespoons of DILL relish (I can take this or leave it, but if you leave it out, add another 1/2 splash of vinegar)
2 tablespoons of reconstituted dried onions (easy measure: pour a shot glass half full of dried onions, add water to just above the onions, stick in the fridge for 15 minutes, drain any excess water)
2 5 oz cans of chunk ham, drained and shredded
black pepper to taste

Fill your egg halves and sprinkle with paprika. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. You will have leftover filling, spread it on some crackers and enjoy while you are congratulating yourself on an awesome job.

but then I have to do it all again later in the evening

Back to back?

I wonder how many people are doing that.

My sister is going to 3 different dinners cuz her friends and colleagues feel bad that she can't go home this year

I went to one tonight and I got one tomorrow

The craziest is a friend who's going to his mom's side, father's, both sides on his wife and one more.  Dude's been working out all week in preparation.
