VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
So this shit just came out and for some odd reason I really like these games. I'm skipping Forza this time because 1. I don't have an Xbone and 2. The economy is totally borked in that game.
What's new
- 1200 fucking cars
- A new UI that doesn't look like it's a North Korean operating system based on Linux
- Drive on the moon
- Drive Sho Nuff's car, the Honda Fit RS, so women will throw themselves at you
- New tracks
- Astrophysics for real stars
- Geometrical subdivision for cars that look more like cars
I lucked out and got a fucking sick Logitech wheel for mad cheap for the sole purpose of playing the shit out of GT5 and had a great time. I fully intend to have ANOTHER GREAT TIME THIS WEEKEND, WHO IS WITH ME BRUVS
-
:rofl at the ps4 box in the trash
-
Actually gaf people are saying this kinda sux, not sure who to trust anymore
-
what's bad about it

Sounds like it's an expansion pack to GT5, tons more cars/tracks, better interface, no real core changes to anything (so most GT5 complaints still valid) and now it doesn't run 1080p without frame drops so if you want 60fps you gotta change your system output to 720p.
GT5 was the first GT game that was too boring to play for me. I don't like sims, but still enjoyed GT1-4 for the most part. The slow and tedious interface in 5 didn't help. Can't really get excited about this. Before the reviews was thinking about picking it up when it hits $20, but now I think I'll just wait and see how GT7 on PS4 turns out.
-
Apparently the Logitech G27 works on the PS3 so I may bust that out and play GT5 with it.
-
Hmm so I should just go back and play Forza 5 more?
-
I'm down as long as they improved the AI or the Arcade mode is fun. It'll give me a reason to dust off my Fanatec Porsche wheel which hasn't been used in 2 years.

GT5 didn't run at 1080p without drops

Also, it would be nice if they have automatic tuning like several other games. I have zero interest in the intricacies of gear ratio. I just wanna go fast!

best OP all year

GT5 Spec 3.0 for $60 instead of wasting another 20gigs of space on your harddrive.
That's basically it. There's some improvements, like Sho said. But it isn't worth the asking price.
-
I haven't played gt5 tho and I'm interested down the line. Still not worth it?
-
UPDATE: Sho Nuff is poopcanning this and will be reading books this weekend instead

If you haven't played GT5, and can get it for like $20? Sure. I dunno if the Microtransactions screws with the grind or if they fixed the grind (talk says they fixed it) but GT5's grinding was kinda bad.

Playing this on mute, I hope?

is this a new Japanese fetish?
-
Drift racing has been a Japan thing for decades. Three at least, if not more.
-
The audio, dude.
-
Squealing tires...?
Oh, because it sounds vaguely like a thousand wailing women? Eh, I guess.
-
Yeah, it's kind of shocking that they're still using the same tiresqueal.wav from the PSOne era, dunno if it's part of the brand now or whatever. I know Kaz has been talking about a new way of generating engine sound that didn't make it into GT6 for the release, but might be an update later. But the tire noise is beyond distinguished mentally-challenged at this point, especially that it's way louder than the engine in this video, even in the replay cameras.
-
That stuck out to me in the Giantbomb quick look as well. The sounds are all horrible still and the music is :holeup
-
Mario Kart 64 has more accurate sounds than GT.
-
The engine and tire sounds really do seem terribad :kobeyuck

Yeah, that's pretty piss-poor audio. Considering how many people buy GT just to have a drift experience, you'd think there'd be some better modeling of the tire sounds in that state.
Also, drifting would have taken off in the USA if the sport had been handled like an actual sport with objective rules. Instead it was a popularity contest, with so many missed opportunities. :-\
